Pioneer AVX-P7000CD screen flashes...

I had just installed a Pioneer AVX-P7000CD and AVM-P7000R. I had alot of trouble installing this due to missing plugs. Now, it works good but the screen is not very bright and the screen distorts whenever the bass hits. It flashes worse as the volume is raised louder. Any clues? Thanks!!!

My first guess would be not enough power? How about when you turn on your headlights, any worse? Maybe a dying alternator, battery, bigger amp? I had a similar problem after i added another 12" sub. I replaced my alternator and problem went away for about a week. It hit really hard and i liked it, but then it started to do it again, so i guess i need to upgrade to a bigger amp. The amp i have now is good enough for one 12" sub, not two. That is only a guess though, i am sure some stereo gurus can help you out. good luck

Nah, I have a new alt and bat and my amp is 1000 watts. Do you think it could be the fact that I never connected the illumination wire? I never connect those things

No, not an illumination problem. Sounds like not enough power. You’r pulling a lot of power with that amp, and the 7000 needs a steady power supply. Try running the constant power for the HU right to the battery.

Yeah, I am pulling the power straight from the battery for the head unit and for the brain.

May be bad ground? Are they both grounded at the same point.

No, I have the head unit grounded to the ground that is provided from the stock radio and the ground from the brain is grounded through a bolt to the frame of the car. Are those good enough?

Should be good enough but try running the ground for the HU the same ground as the brain. If there’s still a problem check the voltage at the HU harness with every thing running, this may be easier with an analog meter. You’ll be looking for any significant voltage drop under high load (when the volume is turned up).

OKay, I ran a new ground using some serious wire. No good. I don't have an anolog meter so I disconnected power to my amp and it is still the same. On the brain there is a slot for a plug labeled "speaker in" that looks similar to the power plug on the back of the HU. That plug is missing. Is that a problem? Also there is a blue wire near the plug for the parking brake switch that is not connected to anything. How bout that? I just wish there was a place online that could show me a manual without me ordering it. Maybe I just wired it wrong......

Did you try pioneers site? I bought a kenwood high end head unit without a manual and i went on kenwoods site, here they have the manuals on there for you to download. Maybe pioneer does too.

Yeah, tried that. I guess the unit is too old because they have the manuals for the 8000DVD and 8000R but not the 7000CD or 7000R.

Um, I was playing around with the wires on trhe brain today. When I played with the v-sel wire the prob seemed to get better. If I pulled it out I had the same problem. If I pushed it all the way in I would have the same problem but couldn't get the view setting off of FULL. When I pulled it half-way out the screen would get a little brighter (but not bright enough) and the flashing would go down alot. Any clue? Also, I have a PS2 hooked up to it but can't figure out how the hell to get the picture on the screen. This thing is a *** damn pain in the ***!
