Back seat sub box?

Okay. So I just bought a 91 TA convertible and need to make a box for two 12s. I hate having a bunch of poeple in my car so I want to take out the back seats and save my trunk space for more important things, Junk.

So, has anyone made a box back there? I searched and couldn't find any pictures or designs. Just ideas, predictions and conspiracies. I'd like to sink each sub in each side seat divit and angle them slightly foward with a plexi face to level it out and set other crap on.

Any help? ideas? suggestions?

my advise is be VERY careful. If anyone knows you have subs back there they will be able to get at them extremely easy.

Yeah, I plan to carpet over it all except for a tiny 12-18" window near the floor for me to be able to see inside and sporatically inspect the speakers, etc. My town isn't a high crime area so I'm not over cautious (which will probably be my downfall).

i've seen many things from walls, designs like your describing as well as my own. i currently have a bracket built that runs front the two stock locations utilizing the mounting points of the old seat back. i have a box that runs the same width of the seat back housing 3 10's that aims up level with the rear glass. it seems to work well. i was going to drop it into the lower seat section itself but there was too much air that way. you can either use the extra space for storage underneath or like myself i have both my nitrous bottles mounted there angled towards the hump so i can just reach back and turn them on.

i'll post pictures this weekend....

i once saw a third gen at a crank it up contest that had the entire back seat walled off, with 2 huge subs, not for sure on the size but at least 20's. he lost to a guy that had 18 12's.:hail:

i too plan on putting subs back there and for security what i have planned is bolt the box where the seat mount is and then with some sort of chain or bike lock cable, wrap it around one of the metal things attachted to teh magnet on the sub (not to sure on the actual word for it...and its 1:40 am) and bolt it to the seat mount also...although i am a long way from figuring out the sound system tho

you should bolt down any box in your car. Not only because of theft but incase of an accident, you dont want to be hit in the head with a flying sub box.

ive played with one and it was the most all "show no go" woofer ive ever seen. Its rated at 5000wrms, and i had 2 JBL 1200.1 on it and it seemed to be properly powered. I highly doubt it could take much more power for a decent amount of time.

i would honestly rather own an adire tempest

I think I'm blind. That's shiny. Nice, looks clean from far away. Do you have any drawings of it or closer pics? thanks!

no i don't. just use your imagination though as it's basically a 13" box design that uses the proper airspace for the 10's and it's braced using the existing brackets from the rear seats so if you decide to put them back down the road you can.
