new speakers = big time rattles
got some new 6x9s for the rear, and got them installed, now all i hear is rattles thought out the car when they are on
the part that i dont get is that i put 2-3 layers of dynamat extreme behind the speakrs and that whole inside of the quarters
there is something uder the car that rattles also, and i cant figure it out, anyone get any ideas how to get rid of the rattles ?
kinda sounds a civic with a box in the back, all it does is rattle.
any ideas ?

you put the dynamat behind the soeakers but did you put any between the metal plate the speakers mount to and the body of the car? This is an area that rattled the most on my car.

You simply have to tighten everything up.
Anything loose needs to be fastened together. Any contact surfaces have to be dampened with a piece of rubber or cork.
Use you creativity, imagination and materials at hand for this.
I've eliminated rattles from cars by dismantling everything and re-assembling it in a way that would not allow rattles.
Just look at some of the newer cars to get some ideas, they are put together much better for systems. Most newer luxury cars sound fine without dynamat or anything else to help improve sound.
The vents are a part of the interior ventalation system, but you could seal them up with RTV or find a way to keep them from rattling.
Another solution would be to use 6.5"s in kickpanels and power them from an amp, loose the 6x9"s, since the location sucks anyways. A small sub in the pit will fill in the lows.
In my T/A, I mounted the 6x9"s in the rear pit cover, it sounded excellent and I had no troubles with rattles. I tried to mount them in sails one last time after I bought new speakers and an amp, but I didn't sound any good, I kept them in the rear. The glass allows much better bass reflection than the sail panels.......yes, you'd be surprized how much bass you can get from 6x9"s! I'd still recomend a sub, I put mine in the back seat. 2 12"s w/ a JL 500/1.....plenty of low end....although this opened up a whole new can of rattles. more audible from the outside than the inside.

why do the stock 6x9's locations suck?i think that they are a perfect placement because they are centered in the car and are right in line with your ears... how would placement in the trunk in stead make for good listening when the speakers would sound like they are far away.... yea the acoustics might be better in the back for bass but i dont think in gonna go cut my kick panels and re-locate my 6x9s...imo stock location couldnt be better... if you need bass u deff need a sub(s) dont bother moving the speaker locations... and the rattle under the car is prob your exhaust system.... mine rattles when at a certain rpm... just wedge some radiator hose between something and your exhaust..... and there ya go problem solved... for that any way....also check out your windows .... because they rattle inside some times and its a b1tch to take all that door stuff off just for a rattle .... good luck man ....
when you go to a concert, do you stand right next to the speakers?
you generally want your sound coming from in front of you, barring dvd movies or the like.
the front stage is what it's ALL about.
put some decent components in some kick panels, quit wasting your energy trying to get sound from the sails.
f body's in my experience sound like butthole with the factory speaker placement, flat and tinny up front, and hollow and unresponsive right next to your ears.
that's not a good combo.
