Some of the Dayton subs from Parts Express are cheap and sound really good.

Or you can jam a rusty screwdriver into your ears. It would cost less, and it would eliminate the torture of having to listen to that ear piercing crap.

The right $20 sub would surprise you. Of course, the Legacy isn't that sub, but they do exist.

I'm running an 8" Dayton DVC sub in my home theater. I think I paid $22 for it. The sound quality is fantastic.

Tangband makes an 8" sub that sells for around $30 that is very highly regarded as being musical and providing a lot of output for an 8".

You can find inexpensive stuff that sounds good. You just need to look in some unconventional places. The typical chinese made flea-market garbage isn't the place to look.

i hear that... my old set up in my car included a $5 home stereo speaker tower that was from 1980 or so i got it at a yard sale in a pair so the one in mah car was worth $2.50..... it sounded pretty good. what i meant is that most of the places around me sell either expensive stuff or crap.. my shopping choices are walmart and target close to me or travel about 40mins and Best buy, circuit city and the likes....

www.edesignaudio.com has awesome subs for $100 each. These will almost certainly be better than anything else you can find for that price. They also have combo deals.
