Fits and doesn't look bad.

It eats mp3 discs.

It was hard to find 4x6 speakers that actually fit in my dash.

These did after some trimming and drilling new mounting holes.

 

Hidden under the stock speaker grilles.

These will go in the sail panels.

No problems here. Perfect fit.

Stock appearance with better sound.

4x 75W RMS for my speakers. Or 2x 75 and 1x 150 for a subwoofer?

 

Not pretty, but it works and doesn't move around.

Time for a subwoofer. Might do that next week. I'm thinking of building a custom box for the spare tire area and using an Infinity Reference 10". I would hook the front speakers to the deck and bridge two of the amp's channels (150W rms) for the subwoofer.

 

i recently got my speakers installed finally i have the infinity kappa plate speakers(forgot numbers)4x6 and the infinity reference 9603i 6x9s in the rear paired with my pioneer mp3 deck and it sounds good im very happy with infinity speakers. the 4x6s i installed were a major female dog it took forever with the cutting and heat molding...

 

nice digs! might try that with my amp tho it may be too big, cause it's wider and flatter, but we'll see....btw, nice choice on head unit!

 

did you just rip out the inside cardboard for the "glovebox"? I put my amp in WITH the spare tire, but maybe if I get another later I will put it where you put yours.

i guess some people dont realize that ....the amp has no air circulation, i see no fans....then again i see no subs so i assume you are running your mids and highs with the amp? in any event...good luck with not over heating

 

depends on the amp man... I have never had an over heating problem in my bird... with the amp TRAPPED in the spare tire well, with the spare tire in there... maybe it gets hot, but never shuts off.

The only time I've had an amp shut off, is when in my buick, a towel fell on the amp, covering it. I wouldn't worry about it..

 

The cardboard glovebox is still in there. I would take some more pics of that area, but it's raining right now. I've had the amp for about a year and it hasn't overheated so far, so I guess it's fine.

I tried the infinity kappa 4x6 plate speakers before these but I couldn't get them to fit at all. The Reference 4x6 speakers were under $100 iirc.

 

some people need very *minor* shaving to get the 4x6 plates to fit... IMO it's worth it, because they sound much better.

 

the driver's side still hit the a/c duct after lots of shaving

 

weird, someday I'll open my dash up and look to see exactly how its done... maybe you can use longer screws and hold it away from the vent or something?

 

Changed my plans. I'll build a removable box for the bottom half of the well.

 

"MINOR" is true for some cars but the infinity kappas had to take alot of persuation from me...i was like <---that was me for like 30min.

lay out some $$ for a speaker grille, almost gaurantee if you don't you will wish you had with a setup like that

btw, very nice, and everything looks real clean.... but where the heck are the other two subs? hehe

 

if he's like me he won't need a speaker guard cuz i never put anything back there, just in my back seats, but if he does put stuff back there i can see a nice hole in the cone very shortly without a grill

 

oh yeah and i got a question, when you mounted your amp did yopu have to cut the box out of the plastic panel for it to fit? just looks like the amp would interfere with the panel fitting back in there correctly

you should throw a couple zip ties on that fuse holder, otherwise it might flap around and break after you've been driving for awhile.

 

my fuse holders always break... but the 4gague wire holds it in place... and if it didn't I would do as he says and put on some magic ties.

The 150W of my Crunch amp aren't enough so I ripped it out. I'm thinking of getting a [url=http://www.maxxsonics.com/hifonics/amps_zeus.html]Hifonics Zeus ZX4000[url] for the subwoofer and mounting it where the Crunch was. I also redid the carpeting of the box. This time it's black.

How much airspace is in that box? It looks like a bit much for an Infinity sub.

I installed the Kappa 4x6 plates in my dash with washers as spacers on the driver's side. Surprisingly, the dash pad still fit fine (I was expecting it wouldn't). But this is on a Camaro; it might not be the case for a Firebird.

thats because hifonics and crunch are just crappy amps... go with a well-known brand or read the review of sounddomain.com... you won't be sorry...

 

I thought Hifonics mad pretty solid amps..

 

Yeah, the crunch will go, but what's wrong with hifonics? They get pretty good reviews.

 

go with whatever you want, just you get what you pay for... but in general I have not heard good things about hifonics... however this doesn't mean they don't have a few good amps, because everyone has a few... except crunch, and lightning audio, and anything that rates their stuff in max watts (guess they all do that pft...)... hell I had two sony xplod amps, the old red square ones from like '96... they worked like a charm better than my no-name autotek crap I have now... damn those thieves!

by no-name I mean worthless-goodfornothing-overpriced crap... and probably no one has heard of it either..

Unless you go with the mean machine series... but then again, they are overpriced! At least this can power some components when I get some money...
