suggest a good amp for my planned setup

Right now I'm runnig an Alpine cda-7832 but that's on the way out. I have the stock 4x6 speakers and a crappy set of pioneers with dual paper cones.

Here is what I want:

-Alpine cda-9825
-Infinity Kappa 462.5 cfp 4x6 plate speakers
-Alpine type S 6x9
-2 Alpine Type E subs
-Digtal Alpine Amp for sub

The headunit has 3 preouts for front, rear, and sub. I am getting the subs and amp from a friend for cheap but I am still looking to figure out what amp I want to go with. the 4x6 are rated at 2-60 RMS and 180 peak. The 6x9s are reated at 2-50 RMS and 250 peak. What amp would be a good idea for this setup? Also, how does this look for a mid level system?

Any decent 50x4 amp from a reputable company should be MORE than enough power for that setup.

But... what I'd suggest is that you rethink your speaker choices. The kappas and the Type S speakers are both good choices, but I think you'd find a greater benefit in using the same brand/model in the front and back, rather than mixing. That will provide a much better integration between the fronts & backs.

Of course, if it was me, I'd keep the stock rear speakers and spend all that money on the fronts, but I'm sort of the "anti rear-fill" type of guy.

I'd also think about spending my sub money on 1 good sub instead of 2 cheap subs.

i'm with jim, 4x6s are HORRIBLE, get something bigger than a 5.25 up front, on some real power, and you will have something worth listening too.

rear fill is for back seat passengers.

Why not just get some Kappas for the 6x9s?

I'm not sure on the kappa quality with the 6x9 and had heard better things about the alpines. However, i heard good about the kappa plate speakers. Are the kappa 6x9 a good pick?

Also, i wanted to go with components in the front but i didn't want kick panels becuase i hate the idea of the sound being blocked by a passenger or bag. I like how the windshield reflect sthe sound in your face. However, can i fit a good set of components in the dash?

Also, if i went with kappa speakers, would an alpine typr r 12" sub be an okay choice or would i need to get a kappa sub? I really like the sound to the alpine subs, expecially the type Rs. And would 1 be enough for me if I'm really only playing rock and a little rap?

Another question, i have a lot, if i go with 1 sub, can i put the amp for the sub and the amp for the speakers in the trunk next to the sub or would it be better to mount the amp for the speakers in with the passengers to keep the wire distance shorter? I was thinking of removing the seat behind the driver and making a box to fit in there to hold my amps and cd changers if i ever get one. Good idea or a waste. and no, lossing a back seat will not be missed. I used my passenger side back seat today for the first time in months. I think i have had 4 people in my car at one time only once in the year i have owned my car.

Thanks for any help.

Even with a passenger in my car my stereo sounds far better than anything I had in the dash. You just can't get good quality 4x6s, and firing them straight into the windshield only complicates the issue.

I had the kappa plates and 3 way 6x9s at one time. Good highs, not much bass, running off an Alpine V12 amp. I feel that my Pioneers 6x9s now have more bass, but certainly not alot.

IMO, if you are buying everything at once, stick with the same brand. Alpine makes 4x6s, not sure of the specs.

When I had my q-forms, eveytime someone would be in the pass seat their leg would block the tweeter and kill the highs. If you could mount the tweeter higher, say in the a-pillars, then that would solve the problem.

You can use any sub you want to, you don't have to stick with the same brand. You can put the amps where ever you want.

For 6x9's nothing beats Infinity Reference 9603i speakers. They sound really good and give you decent bass even when being powered by the HU giving 60 W x 4

Here's a Head Unit that puts out 60Wx4 and is pretty slick looking too! I bought it! haha. Heres the link on e-bay.

60x4 PEAK.

But... I wouldn't be surprised if the head unit really did meet it's claim of 25x4. I didn't read the whole auction, but I know that Panasonic has had the "digital" amps in their home audio receivers for a year or 2 now, and it doesn't surprise me that they decided to use them in their car audio stuff. It is a VERY efficient and compact amplifier design, which would make it perfect for use in a head unit.
