For those who run tweets in the side vents??
Where did you all run the wires?? Should I drill into the vents, or is there a better way?

The side vents come out easy yes, but I am not going to run wiring through the front of my dash!!
I wanted to know who ran the wiring from under the dash without having to pull everything apart??

so let me get this straight... you are trying to find a way to mount your tweeters in the side defrost vents, and route the wires in a sightly manner... without taking off the dashboard?
could be tough... but just remember the dashboard is extremely easy to take off... a 5-10 minute job, ANYONE can do it...
also I would just run it down the edge of the car between the plastic that the dash meets the metal, then slip it under the kickpanel plastic edges...

Scrap, I know how to take the dash off
, I think your confused about witch vents I want to use!! I am not talking about the vents on top of the dash board, I am talking about the side vents, and they are enclosed. Anyway, I will figure something out.

yeah I figured you did, dunno what I was thinking!but now I know what you mean...
are you thinking of just drilling some holes out the vent tubing and into the dashboard internals and running the wires there? just kinda curious what you end up doing with this
good luck

i am running tweeters in the smaller vents on each side. i got it to fit in there, not move around, and ran the wiring without removing the dash. are you talking about the bigger vents though?

I'm especially interested in how you did this without removing the dash... my hat is off to you!
yes take some pictures of the actual tweeters in the small (defrost?) vents...
how do they sound in there?
also 91wtROH17's... you are talking about the side a/c vent, eh? My boss had his miata done up like that... the installer basically just got some plexiglass and cut it to fit the removed vent opening, then "glued" it in place, and mounted the tweeter (I believe there is simply a small hole drilled somewhere in the tubing to let the speaker wires out....)
but if you ask me, his Boston Acoustics, Inc. tweeters (really friggin expensive, and nice) sound like flames to my ears because they are so damn close to my face... Why is everyone so against the treble bouncing off the glass where the 4x6's are mounted?

im going to take the pics in the morning for you guys i just checked back and its too dark to take pics now. i dont have them in those tiny vents in the dash near the mirror.
i dont think they make a speaker small enough to fit in there hahaha. mine are in the lower vent on the far side of the dash. i just took out the vent, placed it in there. nothing big really/ i cant remember where i routed the wires but i will check when i take the pics.

So you put them in the side A/C vents? did you make a mounting plate of some kind?
Also, how did this sound compared to other install locations (if you've had anything to compare to)... kicks/dash plates etc?
