Amp Installation Help

I got my steroe equipment from my wife for christmas and i will be installing it soon. I have a little knowledge when it comes to wiring these things. The box says that the amp is bridgeable, what does it mean to bridge an amp? I know that it has something to do with the way you wire the speakers and i think that i even knew at one time but i know no clue now.

Bridgable means you can combine the two channels into one. For example, if you have a 400watt x2, if you bridge them you can get 800watts x 1. But not always. What you do is, instead of putting one wire in the (lets say left) + and one in the left -, you would put one in the left + and the right -. Thats not always the case, if you look above or below where you put your wires, it should say something like
_bridged_
|.............|
|+|-|_|+|-|
then you would put hte positive in the left side, and the negative in teh right. This is best when you're running one sub since most are only 4ohm stable. If your running two 4ohm subs, when you bridge them you get 2ohms and your amp will go into protection mode.

just to let you know, to my knolage if you have a amp that is 400watsx2 and you brige it it will give you 400 wats into the speaker 400x2 meens 200want per speaker for EX1 12in would get 200 and the other would get 200. the type of sub has a lot to do with it to, is the subs a dule woice coil of single.

that is not quite true, i don't know the formula but when you bridge an amp you get more power, similar to changing the ohms of the amp. i.e my amp is 400x1 at 4 ohms and 800x1 at 2 ohms.

I have two subs. So i would put both positive wire into one terminal and both negatives into the negative terminal?

Yup, you twist them together and put them into the same terminal. The L+ and the R+ into the bridged + terminal, and the L- and the R- into the bridged - terminal.
