i went through an existing hole in the firewall on the drivers side, it was the hole that had a gromet and the cable for the hood release, i pushed the gromet in and then enlarged the hole with a file . that was a fine spot to use.

yeah my firebird had a pre-existing hole in the firewall on the drivers side. i ran mine from the back, through the side panals next to the door, then underneath the passanger seat and through the middle console beacuse i had to get to the drivers side. my rca's were already ran on the drivers side so i couldnt put my power there as well. nothing is visible unless you either take out the driver side seat in which you can see a hole maybe foot going from the passanger side panal to underneath the middle console.
either way, point is your firewall i believe already has a hole in the firewall to run the wire though.

Why are you so opposed to drilling a hole? The passenger side kick panel near the antenna wire is a perfect spot to drill a hole, toss a grommet in and run the wire through. It's a 5 minute job.

what's all this fuss about the passenger side...?
it makes MUCH more sense to go through the driver's side... unless your cars all have the battery mounted on the passenger side... some how...
you want a power wire as short as possible... and drilling a new hole is really easy.

Most Camaros have the battery on the passenger side, and most firebirds have it on the driver side. Various models differ.
Whatever the case, it's usually easiest to run the wire down the same side of the car that the battery is on.

My 89 gta's battery is on the drivers side, but i ran my 4 guage power wire through the area where the wire lume is behind the kick panel on the passenger side just beacuase it was easier. A friend of mine drilled a hole near the firewall in his newer caddy installing a stereo and drilled right into the cars wireing causing a huge mess so be carefull.

all you have to do is check behind the area where you are drilling... not brain surgery..
well that's interesting that they moved the location around so much... very interesting.
where did they put the intake/airfilter on the passenger side battery locations?

It's not brain surgery, but you can still make a mistake if you aren't super careful. When I ran the wire in my GTA, I double and triple checked before drilling. That still didn't stop me from drilling right into the body of the clutch master cyllinder.
Because it was mounted on an angle, I failed to realize that I actually had less room than it appeared.

is that master cylinder right up against the firewall? I'd just have someone in the engine bay, verifying I got the hole right before it goes all the way through.
