Check out the Box I made..
I think this is pretty good for building a box my first time but check this out, I covered it in vinyl it has 2- 8" JL audio subwoofers in it. it was made outta 1/2" mdf material, and i just got finished capping the ends, it fits perfect under my notchback. it's actually pretty complicated to build and i didn't have any power tools
so i had to cut it all by hand.

It looks pretty impressive considering you had to cut everything by hand.
When you get ambitious enough to try your 2nd box, I'd suggest stepping up to 3/4" MDF, and when you vinyl the box, you can use some spray adhesive and wrap it right around the enclosure so that there aren't any bolts showing on the front panel. It'll give a more seamless integration to the interior.
If you can effectively seal off the area between the interior and the hatch area behind the sub box, you'll find a good improvement in sound quality because you won't suffer from the typical cancellation that happens when the subs aren't all the way at the back of the car. I can see tremendous potential for a great sounding setup like this in a notchback car.

As Requested a Picture with the Hatch up and the T-tops in the bag (the whole reason i made this box was so i could store my t-tops in the factory spot) haven't gotten around to capping the corners yet tho.
