Time for a new head unit

I am looking into getting a new kenwood head unit to replace my alpine i am very unhappy with my alpine. I would like the kenwood to have front rear and sub RCA jacks my budget is around 200.00 i could go up a little in cost if need be but i would like to get a new amp as well. Any good recomendations on a head unit also were can i get a good deal i have delt with ikesound and plan to purchase my amp though them if i can afford a new amp i have also checked ebay but people love to rip you off on shipping. Any other sites your would recoment crutchfield is just way to over priced on all there items IMO.

I was just recently on ebay.Looking at kenwoods head units.Model #s were 4028 & 5028.Both were well under $200 with shipping. You just have to shop around. There is one guy there who will beat anyones lower price you find on a product he sells. His auctions(forgot his name)say that in red letters.Anyway look around on ebay.I just bought mine(pioneer model)should arrive friday.

what was the matter with your alpine? Alpine head units are some good stuff..At least I know my 9807 series rox...Clarion might be something to look at too.

Why Kenwood? Any reason? For the $200 price range, I'd suggest a Pioneer DEH-P6600. 22w RMS (opposed to most with 18w), front/rear/sub RCA output, tuneable crossover, nice display, etc.

I loved mine!

That Pioneer stuff is hard to beat, see several that will play MP3 and WMA stuff too. Only drawback to Pioneer is thieves are really hot for them. We've had four stolen in the last several years, not a problem with our other (lesser) stuff.

The reason i am getting rid of my alpine is becasue no matter what i do i can not get the bass to hit as hard as my old kenwood did. How much does the first head unit pictured go for i like the style but i am not a big fan of ***** i like to push the button up and down left and right not to be turning something i also think it looks cleaner.

The reason i am doing this now is because someone just broke into my frineds car second time and stole his head unit again so he mighr be interested in buying mine and if so i will be looking for one to last me another 3 years until i want another one lol. I am on my 6th head unit 5 have been kenwood been very pleased with the quality and sound 1 alpine and have not been happy with it at all it plays mp3's and wma but jsut does not produce the bass or sound i want.

That's a heck of a deal. On the Alpine unit, had a friend that paid real money for a top line Alpine, and I always thought it sounded a little flat too, bass not deep enough. I'd suggest searching around and finding the model you want and first do a Google, then hit Ebay. Note that many companies have a 1.5 DIN unit that will fit the F-body without the adapter sticking out of the dash, much better look but don't know if Kenwood makes it.

Just XM. I don't think any radio has both, due to competition of the 2...

I like takin my cd's rippin them to mps and then putting them all on a single disc (for the cd's i want for a particualr trip) Went from St. cloud Minnesota all the way to Seattle Washington without ever having to repeat a song lol

huh? top of the line alpines have the bass engine feature, usually base engine pro (my CDA-9835 does) and if you like that boomy base you set yur eq to respond to it. I have owned kenwoods, both failed, and have had friends that had speaker outputs fail on pioneer- the only thing i like by pioneer is their supertuner thing.

I installed the new head unit today deh-p7700mp bass sounds allot better there are a few complaints i have about it but i should get used to it you have to open the face then behind it is the eject button that you have to press to get the cd out i do not like that my old one would fold down and let the cd out on its own.

The display is a nice neon blue at night it looks very good and the display is also crisp. The sound is very good almsot too much bass i still need to adjust it and read the manual but over all for a 200 dollar head unit i would go with it again. time to go for a drive now and power wash my eninge in the next city over.

I messed with the EQ a little not to much.
I like the background with the guages but my only complaint is the guages will be blue and the rest black then the background will turn blue and the guages will be black and when the background turnes blue it distracts my eye some i dont like things changeing out of the corner of my eye wheni am driving but i assume i iwll get used to it.

FAST RS and Siagon Bob, you both need the read the owners manual. The display reverse feature can but turned off. It's something like pressing the 5 or 6 button when the unit is off. But it does that to keep images from burning in.

Bob, Press here> http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...p6600&x=8&y=16

And it will only show you the track title for CDs with that info on them, and most still don't (in this country any way).

Fast, turn off the ASL in the audio menu. Should be the last or second to last thing listed there.

TWO things...

you got RIPPED A NEW ONE on that price... when they first came out they were $499, and quickly dropped to $449. at Best Buy even.

secondly... never buy anything from SonicElectronix.com... if I accomplish anything before I die... getting people to NOT shop there would be my first choice.

They sell shoddy, fake-warrantied junk... as I went through two Hifonics 1605D's, and when I was getting ready to send in the second unit, they told me it was "their policy," to not warranty an item a second time. They said I would have to get a professional installation and then MAYBE they would consider working something out.

Luckily I got the eD NINe.1 ... hey, whad'ya know? it works PERFECTLY!!! WOW... plus it's more powerful for nearly the same exact price.

sorry, but SonicElectronix can rot in hell... and everyone that works there (3 people work there btw)
