battery suggestions?

i need a battery... well actually at least 2 or 3 but lets start with one.

the battery will be located in the rear so i would like it to be a drycell so that i do not have to have a vent tube and battery box.

can anyone suggest a battery that is drycell, not optima and they have had good luck with them? i've gone through 8 optima batteries with them failing in the last 2 years and need a new brand. i recently had 2 shipped direct from optima and they were completely dead on arrival. i need one that people have experience with working and the company stands behind their product. any suggestions?

Check Interstate Batteries they have a great reputation and great product. They make a battery for everything.

Hawker Genesis makes some of the batteries other companies relabel (Including larger audio companies like Stinger). I don't think they make dry cells, but their supposely sealed.

do a search on elitecaraudio.com. There have been a few big discussions about batteries. Most people who have had Optima have had the same results you have. There are a couple brands that keep getting recommended by the guys over there, though I've never used any of them so I can't comment on their quality personally.

Orbital makes gel-cell batteries that put out more power than optimas, and cost less.. I've seem them at small auto stores, and even at advanced if I remember correctly...

what seems to be failing with the optimas? are you draining them down all the way, and recharging them all the time? I know all dual-purpose batteries have a limited life of this, which is not as good as a pure deep-cycle... but even the deep-cycle batteries wear out sooner or later...

maybe the optimas don't like being daisy-chained? Maybe they are slightly different voltages and they damage each other... just like mixing different brands of rechargable alkalines is a bad idea...
