Well, I just put in a Panasonic head unit in my car (good choice?)

When I had the old stock radio, only the front driver speaker would work. With the panasonic installed, again only the front driver speaker works. I believe there;s some noise...I mean sound coming from the passenger side front speaker. Are the rest of my speaers dead or is there something else amiss here? Any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Wander around the car with the car off and the radio on. This will give you the best understanding of what speakers are/are not playing sound.

Even if you've blown 3 of the 4 speakers they're going to make some noise unless you completely melted the voice coils, which is extremely unlikely running only a head unit. If the sound they're producing sounds like *** (crunchy, etc) then the coils are blown. If they make a weird vibrating sound then odds are the cone is ripped.

Vehicle wiring is another possibility. Pull the speakers and hook a multimeter to them with the radio on to see if you're getting any voltage. You shouldn't get much but it will tell you whether or not the car's wiring is bad.

Do you have a Multimeter? Fastest and easiest way to figure out which speakers are good/bad is to check impedance and continuity on each speaker through the harness. Chances are, you need new speakers.

Why? You can buy a 50' spool of nice 16 gauge for around $50 at a local store and have everything fixed in a matter of an hour. If it's your speakers that means that you're out money for new stuff.... unless of course you're looking for a reason to upgrade.

Sound quality is awesome. They're right up there with Alpine IMO. Durability-wise...they're so-so. I wouldn't buy a head unit without buying the extended warranty on it anyway.

I like mine alot, I've had it since Jan '03. I have a CD-HX1083U (no longer available) that I purchased through our employee store (yes I am a Panasonic employe, and my opinion is, well, biased). It has given me no problems what so ever and has been hooked up to two sets of amplifers; a set of Phoenix Gold Titanium series which one lost an output channel, Replace them with a Memphis Belle 5-channel. The combination sounds great.
