Car has no deadening...what to do
A few years back in the great days of High School I replaced the interior of my car. Alot of the jute padding was damaged/moldy so it was thrown out. What resulted is a car with no sound insulation.
I've got the go-ahead from the wife to make this car quiet again. I'm thinking I need to replace the jute and thought about going with a paint-on sound deadener. Does any company offer the factory jute (or jute cut to fit the interior)? Doing some reading, it seems there are alot of options for paint-on sound-deadening. What I'm looking for here is mainly road-noise dampening along with heat insulation. The lack of insulation makes my car a bit warmer than it should.
Got advice? I'm all ears/eyes.

Well, I read
Sound Deadener Showdown
and like their choice for Best Value - RAAMmat BXT. Seems like it will hold up well also. Anybody here use the stuff? How much footage should I look at ordering?

I am sure that you can get the original jute from billygrahamscamaro website. My car uses 2 layers of dynamat under the carpet and a product called b-quiet in the door panels. My bass can be slamming in the car but very little can be heard outside.

Well, I sent them an email. We'll see if they have any. I'm curious if YearOne would carry the jute.
Edit: Looks like they don't.

Not really sure at this time where you can get it (probably Home Depot or the like), but I currently use household foam rubber carpet underlayment as both an insulator and sound deadener. The stuff I use is used especially in wet areas (like a bathroom) and has a layer of plastic-like material on one side. It's not heavy, and is a little denser than the factory jute crap. I don't currently know how much it weighs compared to DynaMat, but I can say it works (except I don't have anywhere near enough to do the whole car with it and it NEEDS to have a lot of deadening material) .

I was thinking I would end up at a home supply place. I'm pretty sure about doing a layer of sound deadening and then getting the replacement jute like you suggested and just cutting it to fit. Otherwise I'm just buying used 20 year old jute...
