Front speakers

My front ( new blaupunkts) crackle when up real high, am wondering if i hooked up the wires right:

left front: tan-positive gray-neg

right front: light green-positive dark green-neg

let me know if this is right, if so, what could be the problem?

Hooking up the wires backwards wouldn't cause the type of problem you're having.

The sound you're getting is either due to overdriving the speakers, or overdriving the amplifier. My guess is that you're overdriving the speakers, which is extremely common on 4x6s if you run them full-range instead of filtering the bass.

having a 2nd set of tweets hooked up shouldn't cause the type of problem you were experiencing.

I have to agree with Jim. I believe that you have other issues. Incorrectly wiring the speakers wouldn't cause the "crackle".

I thought my friend had bad front speakers because they had a crackle at about 75% volume. It ended up being a bad cd player. The CD player was 10 years old though and played daily.

Well there you go. That head unit will barely get to normal listening volumes without clipping.
