why do ppl break into cars for amps?

some dumb **** broke into my car today and took my piece of crap
cd-player..
it probably looked nice and shiny caz of the chrome at dark,
but it was the cheapest piece of **** you could ever buy.. an almani 80bux cd player.

im just so pissed to how they just broke all my middle console plastic into pieces.. they were all in good shape.

those are hard to find good piece in pickn'pool and i have to drive like an hour to go to pick'npool too..

next time I put my cd player in, im gonna put a stack of cutting blade behind the cd player or something so when they try to take it off it'll chop their finger off or something..

I would not do that! they can sue you.

most do it for the thrill then the money or item they want.

I know it sucks but thats the world we live in. heck even if they caught the person you would still be out of luck since I doubt they have any money to replace your console if they had any money I doubt they would risk getting a theft ticket and would do something else for the thrill. it really blows how the law works, I think the only real option is to get some alarm and scare the idiot way befor they break in.

they can sue me for what?

correct me if im wrong but all they get is a ticket?

a guy i know got a 10grand ticket and a felony record for getting
caught on hit&run..
breaking into cars are more intentional and i dont think they should be
treated easier than hit&run.

isnt it the same thing as breaking into a house and stealing some valuables?

again, correct me if Im wrong, but are u sure all they get is a ticket?

and usually, u pay more than just the cost of what u attempted to steal..
u get caught trying to steal a guy's wallet that had 100bux inside,
u will pay way more fines than 100bux.. or at least I thought so?

Hit and run involves personal injury, not a cheap CD player. This isn't a third world country, people don't have their hands chopped off for stealing. Petty theft is usually probation- no way would the person go to jail unless its happened many many times before. And the razor blades behind the deck is a bad idea because: 1. blood everywhere, 2. they're pissed; they're going to break more stuff, 3. they CAN sue you- it's happened before and people have won their case in even more ridiculous situations.

The laws will vary from state to state, but as a rule of thumb you can only injurer someone to the extent that you are threatened. But even then, even if you are in fear for your life, you are first expected to flee, if you can't flee, then you can defend yourself.

Get your middle console from moderndaymuscle.com. I got a new one from them. I think it was about $70

I'm not too sure on the $$$ amound but, I think anything over 1000.00 is a felony maybe 500.00???? not sure anyway yes they only get a ticket and IF you are lucky they pay restitution for what they took or damaged. usually in cheap items like yours you get the busted up cd player back and a story from the officer on how they were super cops and caught the guy and gave him a 100-300 dollar ticket and a half hour in court. and you would have to sue for the damages which would be pointless since your time and the money he has would never even come close

k.. ur all right.

the blade thing was just an idea and i was just pissed off lol

still kinda surprised about the fact they only get ticket though.. I guess theft isnt too much of a deal but its more about the amount of money damage then.
thx for the modernmusclecar.com info,
dealer will charge me 170bux and i couldnt find a good piece in JY.. 70 sounds good for a brand new!

I'd put razors in there anyway. To hell with it. They wanna break into my **** then they deal with the consequences. Get a good lawyer if they decide to sue, and you'll get away with it. Judges around here would laugh at them if they tried to pull a lawsuit against you for something like that.

Sorry, but donot booby trap your car in any way. You will be held liable for injuries and damages. As in one of the previous post, you can only use deadly force to protect you or your loved ones in a dangerous situation. I have seen numerous cases where good guys like you and me get screwed by the vermin that walk the planet.

Booby trapping has been discussed several times on this board, so I am going to close this. Sucks your stuff got jacked, though....
