new alpine sticks out too far
well, i just had a new alpine ipod ready headunit installed, and damn! it sticks out way too far to look good.
i mean, i guess i could deal with it, but its just annoying and tacky as hell.
is there anyway i can modify it to be flush? it sticks out a good two inches.

Axle/Gears: huh?? guessing stock.
on mine I had to loose the air ducting for the vents on the sides of the center console by my seats. the ducting was not allowing the HU to slide back all the way in.

Can you post a pic?
There has to be something wrong with how they installed it. Every single din I've had installed in mine has been pretty much flush with the radio trim piece. And that's just using a standard kit.

I have been needing an HU for some time now and that is exactly why I havent purchased. There is no single din or din 1\2 that looks good in a third gen.
If I am wrong show me some pics and I will buy!

its installed correctly. ill post a pic tomarrow, its snowing right now, the car isnt moving! haha
Sounds like the OP's installer used the wrong kit, cheap kit, or just didn't install it right. Sticking 2 inches out past the radio trim, there is no way that is installed right.
If you want it to be even further back, you can always so what others say and make your own kit.

im sure its a really cheap kit.
id like to build myself a kit, but going to school and working doesnt leave alot of time to do it. especially since its my daily driver.
any place where i can just buy a better looking kit?
