power antenna stopped working after install of alpine

so as soon as i installed my alpine cd player, my power antenna stopped working. if you plug the stock radio in, the antenna will work. i've re soldered all the connections and the problem persisted. is there an easy, non-crazy wiring fix to this problem?

thanks!!!

hmmm. intresting. I saw in your profile, so I am guessing you have an 85. The stock wire for the power antenna should be pink, and the wire comming out of the headunit should be blue, almost the color of the amp signal wire.

Yep, you just forgot to hook up the Power Antenna wire... hook it up and you should be ready to rock. Haha, sometimes I make the mistake of forgetting to hook it up in some cars at work and will have to hop back in and hook it up real quick.

Most Alpines have a 'rem' and an 'ant' lead. Check which blue wire you use. If you use the wrong one, the will stay up with the CD on. No biggie.
Can you check to see if you get 12V on the ant wire?

Re: power antenna stopped working after install of alpine

I know it's been a while that i put up this post. i had some stuff that i had to fix first. but i thought i would mention that i'm using a turdowire wire harness to plug in to the stock plug. should i just soder the pink and blue wires together to make a better connection? also, you can hear the antenna switch on when the radio is powered up but no up/ down action. on top of everything, i just tried it with a stock ac delco and the antenna worked. thanks for all the help!!!!

Would you happen to have a stock amplifier in the car? For some reason the stock amplifier was shorting out the antenna circuit the other day and i had to unplug it. The radio would turn on but my amplifiers and the antenna would not.

The amp should be in your dash behind the dash pocket on the passenger side. Remove the plastic panel (not the very bottom one) and you should be able to see it. It is the box closest to the the center console.
