How is this combo?

Okay, bare with me because car audio kind of confuses me with all this different watts at different ohms and bridged stuff...

These are the subs I am set on getting..2 Power acoustik Fubar-12W
http://www.cardomain.com/item/POWFUBAR12W
Now they are dual 4 ohms and hold 800W RMS each

The amp I found which is 1600W RMS is this Audiobahn A16000V
http://www.cardomain.com/item/ABNA16000V
But this amp at 4 ohms is only 800W RMS, but bridged is 1600W@2ohms

...so, is this amp a good match, how do I wire it up so it is 1600rms putting the matching 800 to each sub? Or is it possible and safe? Sorry I don't completely know what I'm talking about but please help me on this...and if it's not a good amp to power them, what are your recommendations?

Re: How is this combo?

Since you selected a sub with dual 4-ohm voice coils, that means you can either get 8-ohms or 2-ohms per sub (two identical coils in series are twice the individual impedance, in parallel they are one half).

When you combine two of these subs (with identically wired voice coils), you have the following options:

1, 4 or 16 ohms.

I would suggest 4-ohms and the best way to acieve that is wiring each sub's voice coils in series (on the same sub), and then wiring the two subs in parallel. That will result in a 4-ohm load. If you wire the coils in parallel and then the subs in parallel, you will get 1 ohm which will be unstable on that amp.

If you use use 8-ohm dual voice coil subs, you can get an equivalent load of 2-ohms (parallel/parallel), if that is what you really want. (or two 4-ohm single voice coil subs in parallel)

If you are set on those subs, I have always liked MTX and JL Audio for amps. They will cost more than the Audiobahn though (the JL Audio seems to be more efficient than most amps).

Re: How is this combo?

No offense but that equipment isn't the best. If you would be getting a steal on the goods then I wouldn't have so much to say but I just hate to see people spend $400+ on lower quality equipment. If I were you I would watch for something other brands. Don't focus so much on "high wattage" amplifiers either. I think that is something that is often very overrated. That's just my opinion.

Re: How is this combo?

audioques are cheap.. fubars are garbage.. and that audiobahn amp isnt the worst but def towards the bottom of the list.. if you want a budget amp i suggest hifonics, cheap and are about 80% efficient.. you may be set on getting those subs, but if you look else where you will a lot happier.. dont mean to be a **** but the subs are not good at all...check out audioque, RD audio, soundsplinter.. or hit me up on AIM if you want more companies or give me your budget and i can help you... No its just that I don't have a lot to spend right now and if I'm gonna spend that much, car audio is not where it needs to be spent cause what I have now is good enough

Re: How is this combo?

ya know i actually finall put in some subs in my convertible and i have to say they sound pretty damn good for what they are..

first off i have a powerwedge box created by JL audio for the 2 10" W0 8 ohm version subs. Now they are wired in parallel so i can get a 4 ohm load.

next is an Igsignia amp...the best buy amps...yes i said it but i got it new for 50 dollars so i couldnt go wrong on that lol. sealed box and even with the top down the bass hits so hard its unreal. for some WO's and best buy crap it really isnt crap...maybe a 400 or 500 watt amp i think.

just some insight for ya.
