Re: audio help

my opinion is to check the wires and make sure its wired up right you can always make a mistake, but if it has a fan its not working or it f'd...

Re: audio help

use a volt reader to see how much power you get from the wires... also the fuse could be to big giving it to much power.. what hu do you have? are you using the harness to hook it up to the factory wiring harness?

Re: audio help

But i really think its something to do with the wiring make sure nothing is grounded out but if you have to just run a wire from the battery to the hu and a ground to something else...

Re: audio help

Sounds like it's seeing to low of an ohm load. How many speakers do you have hooked to it? More than 4 (1 per channel)? Are you sure each speaker is presenting about 4 ohms? Older speakers can vary a little in the load they show. Anything around 3.5 to 4.5 is acceptable, but any more, and you should replace them.

how do you have your speakers hooked up?
Just 1 speaker per output? Or did you try and run multiple speakers off of each output?

If you have too much of a load on the deck, that might cause it getting to hot since you've put such a load on the outputs. If this is the case, I'm surprised the deck didn't pop a fuse or just stop working. Unless you put in a larger rated fuse, to stop it from shutting off. If that's the case, then it's just a matter of time before the deck stops working.

Re: audio help

Do you have a multimeter?
If so, check the 'ohms' of each speaker, they should be 4ohms.
Also, make sure nothing is shorted when the speaker is installed. Make sure the terminals aren't touching each other, or metal on the car.

What type of decks are you working with?
None of them are blowing fuses?
How long does it take to get so hot that it burns?

Re: audio help

You don't have the monsoon system do you? If it's an aftermarket deck, but sure you have new speaker wire run connecting the speakers directly to your new HU.
