Re: CUSTOM MADE SUB BOX
That's what I want to make for a cd changer and amp. I would want it a little lower than that so I could still put some stuff in the well area. Probably some sort of lid so I could get at the magazine for the cd changer and maybe some fans or something to keep the amp cool since it is in a enclosed area. I'd like to get the dimensions of your sub box or plans. But It is a very good design. Could you send me a private message with dimensions and plans on how you made this? I like how you can still use the light in the well area, that was a good idea.

Re: CUSTOM MADE SUB BOX
I never thought about the air leak at the plexi any suggestions on how to stop the air and still keep the look that it has. And like i said it still has some work that has to be done to it. Such as where am i going to put the amp????

Re: CUSTOM MADE SUB BOX
I would put the amp in the sub box or some where on top the sub box. You could put the amp under the plexy glass? Can you drill holes in plexy glass for venting for the amp. Just some ideas I'm throwing around.

Re: CUSTOM MADE SUB BOX
It's a little late in the process, but what I typically do is counter sink the plexi with a router using lots of screws and silicone sealant. To hide the screws and silicone build a trim ring out of 1/4" board, cover it in matching carpet and screw it down in the corners with decorative screws.

I'd stay away from mounting your amp on or in your box, only because the vibrations from the subs can damage and rattle things loose in the amp. Many people have built a amp rack for where the spare tire goes so its hidden and well ventulated. Right now I have mine mounted on the hump behind the backseat but I am looking into the amp rack idea for the spare tire space.

Re: CUSTOM MADE SUB BOX
use clear silicone to make a good seal for the plexy. just dont glob it on so its looks really really bad. I was lil scared with my box so I just silconed my subs in they wont leak ever
. My box is bomb proof its got lots of silcone in and out from prev owner drill holes.

Re: CUSTOM MADE SUB BOX
I second the visuals. Is that tin foil in the first pic ? :P
ANd dont enclose your amp inside with the subs...
Heat build up much?
But all in all looks good. Did you just use the normal sub box for the basic dimensions then alter the top?

Re: CUSTOM MADE SUB BOX
Yes I planned on puttng lights on the inside I just have to find a style and color that I like. But thatw ay foil on the inside but I had a problem with it. I guess that it was not glued down hard enough because it rattled BAD so I had to pull the top off and get all the foil out and then reseal the thing. And to anwser the question about the measurements we cut the piece that covers the rear hatch moter right under the lip that the box sits on. Then took the box all the way to the wall that the tail lights connect to. So pretty much the box lookes like a box letter L with the top that you see when you look at it. Thanks for the posts.
