Awesome looking DVD player...

Been looking to upgrade my 92's sound system, and found this sick player. Only problem is Crutchfield says it doesn't fit Maybe it can be modified to fit, i'm not sure, but it definitely would be cool to try.

unless I'm missing something it looks like a din sized receiver...and technically should fit with any aftermarket mounting kit.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Hell the older model of this looks nearly the same and everything.

Re: Awesome looking DVD player...

Probably depth is where the issue is. I got a pioneer unit when they first started using the full OEL displays. It was too deep for the radio pod on my firebird. But, I cut into the inner structure of the pod so that it would slid back in there. Also...I minimized the wiring by not using a plug and play adapter and just soldered it all the old school way.

Also with that radio, I used an install kit that stuck out. That helped with about an inch or so more space. The radio i have now fits in a recessed kit, so its flush with the front fo the pod. You'll have to check the depth measurement against a head unit that fits without mods to see how bad it is.

If its single Din...it'll fit. But crutchfield isnt going to say it fits if you have to cut into your stock parts.

That inner structure, the rear bracket or whatevers back there taking up space. Is it possible to unscrew it, or maybe bend it incase I ever needed it again?

That bracket comes right out, I believe there are 4 bolts hold it in.

This is very true. If it will fit with no modifications they will tell u. It will say it wont fit if it needs modifications. Im a huge supporter of crutchfield. I would check the specs on the site it should tell u the depth of it. Just measure before u buy it. If still not sure give them a call. They have amazing customer support. Before i became a known-by-first-name guy at the local car audio shop i used crutchfield for everything. It should fit though.

Re: Awesome looking DVD player...

Sorry to bump up an old thread, but figured it was better than making a new one.

Crutchfield just updated their page on this dvd player, they're saying now that it does indeed fit, albeit modified.
Installation Details for your 1992 Camaro
» To install this product, youll have to modify your vehicle. » Extension kit -- when installed, the radio will protrude from the dash by 1/2". » Unbolt or cut out the factory stereo's rear support bracket to make room for your new receiver.
Now I'm just wondering then, and maybe someone who's bought a player that's had the same installation details.

Will the unit still stick out a 1/2" AFTER removing the rear support bracket? Or would it do that if I didn't remove the bracket?

Ideally I'd want a flush fit... I'm waiting for an email back from JVC on the exact size of this thing

Re: Awesome looking DVD player...

Alright... Excellent. Some nice CS from JVC

The dvd's dimensions:
(WxHxD) 7-3/16", 2-1/16", 6-5/16".

The panel size is 7-7/16", 2-5/16", and 1/2".

So how big is the area in there for our cars? Without the bracket?

Or maybe what's the bigger player you've got inside there?

Edit: Okay i found it on Crutchfield :5-5/8"

I assume that's with the bracket in... So it shouldn't be much of a problem
