not really a great idea if you're looking for accurate sound reproduction; lots of different size drivers with different frequency responses out of phase from each other = lots of cancellation (frequencies "disappearing" from your playback). since sub frequencies are omni-directional, your ears cannot actually tell where they are coming from if installed properly.

leave the mids and highs up front where sound should be coming from (and where space is limited) and leave the bass to the hatch. you'll be happier and have a heavier wallet.

But one thing you can do is mold a box to put where the back seats are, and have some in the back trunk area. But I don't see the benifits of having subs all around?

Well, like i said it was just an odd idea that popped into my head while i was looking at my thirdgen and thinking about my audio stuff. Would be something different though.

I guess it'd be interesting if all you wanted was the rumble and absolutely no hearing...I think I'd stick with full range speakers up front there though

I have found this to be VERY true. This advice is solid, take it from Dan and me who used to think just like you until i moved my single 12 to the trunk area and the highs only up front under the windshield. Couldn't be happier now!

Great advice Dan.

Actually you can hear is the sub is upfront or in the rear. Some car audio world champions run subs in the dash for SQ and in the rear for SPL. Subs in the dash blends better with the front speakers.

For the most part, keep the subs in the rear.

You could run mids or woofers (not sub woofers) in the sail panels or front and cross them properly.
