I have my power wire ran from my battery to my amp with a 30 amp inline fuse, i have my wire grounded but i used a double ground, since i have to have two grounds for my amp and cap i went from using a single wire from my spare tire and doubled up my wireing to i have 2 ends, one going to my amp and one to my cap, so pretty much 1 wire splits into 2. well my main question is what else do i need? i know i need to go to radioshack tomorrow to get speaker wire but do they carry direct wire, or on/off wire as some call it? its the wire that when i turn my car off my headunit tells my amp and capacitor to shut off aswell. or could i use speaker wire on this aswell?

Re: hooking up amp and cap
You will need to run a "remote" wire that tells the amp when to turn on and off. Nearly all aftermarket head units have a blue remote wire specifically for this purpose. Speaker wire would work but as long as you're there you might as well pick one up.

You didn't mention whether you have RCA cables. You'll need those too unless you plan to use the high level inputs on your amp(if it has them).

I bought a few bulk spools a couple of years back. It's handy for things like remote wires. It's also nice to have so I can extend harnesses etc and keep close to the same color.

careful - aftermarket decks can have 2 blue wires. one is for a power antenna, the other's remote wire. you'll find out real quick if you use the wrong one (amp will turn off when you put in a cd and turn it back on when the radio's on)
