My first radio install (dual din)

Re: My first radio install (dual din)
I like it. I also want to go to a double din. What brand of unit did you get and are you pleased with it? I am just now looking. The Chinese brands are pretty reasonable in price compared to the name brands. What do you think?
Re: My first radio install (dual din)
I paid a 150 for mine it's a non gps model but it has Bluetooth call and radio function , USB and iPod specific ( doesn't support all iPod there a list ) but charges the iPod while playin the DVD player worked fine the touch screen works good it has and sd slot
The only trouble I've had is the blue tooth skips for half a second every so often I think when you get text MSG and for some reason the time and preset won't save but I think I just wired incorrectly so it probably on me overall I love it it looks good and beats any radio I've seen for $150 (8.7 out of 10 ) in my opinion

Re: My first radio install (dual din)
hmm i like seeing this because i want to put one if these in my wip
one would probably have to cut more out to get a flush look? also does it have holes in the side to screw it in to like a mounting bracket?

Re: My first radio install (dual din)
Yeah I mean if you really want to put enough time and effort , and a grinder or something to cut the plastic just under the heat controls it may fit better it's what I will eventually do but there are all so 2 square pieces that stop it from going back the last few millimeters which you could also take care of , and yes it came with brackets
This job could be done way better I just posted the lil stuff I did as a guideline for everyone to see what it looks like and do it better than me lol

I hate to lose the ashtray part. Couldnt do it without doing that?
Re: My first radio install (dual din)
I'm looking into doing a double din in my current IROC project. I like your ambition, but there has to be a way to give it a more "finished" look. I wonder if cutting out the trim piece between the radio and heater controls would allow one to get it flushed up more. It seems like there is a ton of room in there.

post #23 shows his mounted in the dash. Looks very good. And, you can keep the console intact.

Did they have another head unit like yours with GPS added? How do you like yours? I am looking at the Chinese ones because they offer so much for cheap prices.

Re: My first radio install (dual din)
I will look over the ebay site and see if I can find out exactly what I want. I may ask you another question or two after I look. Got to go out now. Thanks for the info. talk later. Ron (yankeecarman)
