A car without audio.. just isnt the same. Help?
Alright guys so I have a 1987 Trans am, when I had gotten the car there was no stereo and knew nothing about it as it was bought from an estate. Although I did find a kenwood deck out of an old MPI writeoff I bought awhile back. ANyways when I went to wire it in, the guy before me seemed to have some kind of aftermarket electronics in there, I think it may have been a touchscreen, theres a fusebox, and a few other gadgets one says Panasonic I believe. Anyways, I got my friend to help wire me in the deck quick, it worked for quite awhile and now all the sudden it doesnt work?
Now I am not sure if the color codes are the same as it had aftermarket wires as it is.. but I did test the I think it was orange for power and there was nothing, I tryed running a wire from the battery straight to the power source, and nothing? Maybe my deck is messed? Or maybe its not the power wire? Please help me out.

you're going to have 2 "power" wires - one is constant 12v and the other is switched (ignition) 12v. your typical aftermarket harness will have yellow as constant and red as switched. your factory side of the harness would have had orange as the constant and yellow as the switched.
both of these wires must be sending power to the radio for it to turn on. hope this helps a bit

Thank you for the reply, I figured it out. Turns out my deck was fried because when i put it straight to the battery for power there was nothing, it was an old crappy deck anyways but I went and got myself a brand new pioneer deck that was on sale, wired it up, sounds great. I made a custom switch and fuse for it.
