82' Camaro Fabrication for Subs and Amps?

So I just finished restoring pretty much everything on my Camaro. Now it's time for a rocking stereo system! I could easily fab one, but the problem is I need to have full access to my spare tire. I have some ideas, but I would like to see some evidence of people actually doing this. Has anyone accomplished this?

Looks good! I was thinking about doing something similar, but putting two 10" subs side by side, and then stuff an amp under it. BTW! Nice restore! Looks A LOT like mine, condition wise.

thanks, i recently crashed it , smashed in the front end up to the engine, i rebult it , drove it for the first time in 5 months last week. drives great. looks killer. still need a passenger fender and lower body kit piece on the front end... ill post pics at some point... i have a buddy who did two tens. and put the amps under them. i like the single ten, 600 watt sub with a 1200 watt amp turned down does perfect. i can turn it down and sounds perfectly balanced of turn it up with the integrated sub volume in my dash and rattle ear drums...

Ouch! Didnt total it??? I know these uni-body cars are totaled easy.

And I just got mine fixed. Bought it in a deal with a T-Top for $880. REALLY clean, only one dent on the driver side door.

That's sweet man. My T-Top car used to be a Z28 but some idiot didn't know how to drive and got into multiple accidents. It now has 4 different cars welded onto it. Which is obvious, because I do not think they made a t-top Z28. Main part of car is now RS 25th anniversary.

Re: 82' Camaro Fabrication for Subs and Amps?

I have my amp stowed underneath my subs (I am running 2 10" p1's in a 'false box'). It works great and I like that its hidden but it does get hot underneath there. I can't run my subs for more than about 30-45 minutes without the amp overheating. Its not a serious issue though. I run it pretty hard when I'm cruising and even with it out in the hatch it still overheated after an hour and some change.

So maybe its not much of a problem, just something to think about.

hmmm, thats odd, my buddy did that and his never over heated, but then again we ported a duct through the face of his box down to the amps and had fans running, im sure that helped alot. my sub is in the driver rear quarter panel and it never over heats in there...

Re: 82' Camaro Fabrication for Subs and Amps?

I like the idea of putting the amps in the back seat ...someone had pics ...where they gutted there back seat and the amps sat in side ...looked cool ..

P.s. my iroc-z28 has T-tops and a 350 ...so yes iroc's have T-tops ...but 87 was the first year GM put 350 in 3rd gen's ....
