Rethinking my stereo setup in my 87 TA..need input
Rethinking my stereo setup in my 87 TA..need input
I had installed a single din GPS unit with my current setup and now have gone to a DD GPS unit. I currently have 6 speakers installed in the car with dual amps * 2-6x9's, 2- 4x6's and 2- 6" round( in the kick panel). I am thinking now that I should go with just one amp instead of 2. Since I have the car apart now, the change is an easy one. Can someone recommend me 1 amp that will do the job. I am not installling a sub.
Thanks

This is what I have now minus the Pioneer brain...just the 2 Pyramid amps
Thanks

alpine mrx-f35 is 239 from online car stereo. Use promo code OCSAVINGS. So your total would be 227.05

what type of amp should I buy? Since I am only running 6 speakers and no sub, should I get a 4 channel amp?

I would get a 4 channel, alpine makes good amps and Kenwood makes decent ones until you hit the excelon line then they're on par with alpines lower end gear. You cab use a 4 channel and run your fronts together but you're only issue is 4x6's generally need to be highpassed, if you run your fronts together on a set of channels then you would highpass your 6.5's as well... Or you cab run your 4x6s separate and then your 6x9's with the 6.5 but then your fading ability is toasted and may be more difficult to tune.
It's a catch 22 here, if you dont care about your 4x6s then just run em how you are but remember that a tiny speaker can only handle a small amount of bass before they distort and sound like crap and eventually blow

well you could just get 4 channel, run your 6.5 on the front, 6x9 rear, then 4x6 off the head unit. Thats how I usually do that set up

If you run the 4x6s on deck power they're at a higher risk of distortion. And having 4 other speaker amplified with much higher output by size alone the effects of the 4x6s would be so negligible you may as well not use them. I say your best bet is to run the fronts together and the rears alone and just go easy on the filter so your 6.5s aren't totally bass free and the 4x6's are still safe
