Serious question I need an answer to
Ok so I went to our junk yard for parts last weekend and found an older iroc z with a fairly good interior that is the same color as my 92 rs camaro bit while I was looking at it I seen the kick panels were bulged out so after some further research I found out there the Bose kick panel speakers and I need to know if they'll fit into my 92 rs because I need some more speaker power and sound since it is a convertible and I didn't want to cut into the door panels and hey I can get them for free but will they work is what I need to know
Re: Serious question I need an answer to
Kick panels are the same as far as car to car fitment. Aftermarket speaker kick panels will still fit any camaro from 82-92. Not to mention if you have power windows, you cant cut into your doors to install speakers. The window motor is right up against the door panel. I debated about this topic on my 91Z28 T-top. no one makes a door bumpout for speakers, otherwise I probably would have gone that route while I did my custom door panels.

Well mine has power windows but four speakers doesnt cut it for me so I had been looking for another way around it because I've read articles on here about cutting into the door panels but then I seen the articles on these kick panels the only problems I see is how to have them wired to my head unit and if they even work because this iroc has been sitting at one of my dads jobs junkyards for at least 4 years but if still if they do work I'm going to try to install them does anyone know how many Camaros were built with this option I'm also trying to feta ruff estimate on that too
Re: Serious question I need an answer to
the only problem you will run into is splicing in the front speakers to get a pure sound. the wiring can be run easily enough. Are you changing out your stock deck for an aftermarket? If so you can install a "power pac" amplifier and get better sound no matter what speakers you use.
As far as the speakers being bad in the kick panel styles, you should be able to remove them and replace with seperates. They would most likely be a kick panel by q-logic that someone put Bose speakers in. Kenwood make a nice 6 1/2 component setup fr a little more than $120.

I gutted mine and installed almost all Kenwood Excelon equipment. Deck, all speakers, subs, but have JL Audio sub amp, and the Alpine power pac......it kicks ***. Usually go with JL Audio Subs and Amps, the either Alpine or Kenwood Decks, and either JL Audio or Boston Acoustic components.

Re: Serious question I need an answer to
What makes you think they're aftermarket kick-panels? My 89 IROC came with a factory Bose sound system. Each speaker had their own amp. There were 1 speaker in each kick panel and 2 speakers in the hinged lid in the back. They were no speakers in the dash or in the sail panels.

Re: Serious question I need an answer to
I have researched every option out there to find a kick panel other than the Q-Logic models. Not even GM can verify a car with factory Kick Panel speakers or show any replacement parts. That doesnt mean that a good HI-FI dealer didnt get their hands on it right off the floor. I did it to many car and trucks over the years just to go to competitions.

1987 Camaro
The 1987 Model Year saw a number of major changes to the Camaro:
There were a number of new interior additions, as a leather interior was optional for the first time, available for all Camaro models, and a Delco-Bose sound system was also introduced. The centre high-mounted stop light (CHMSL) moved from the hatchback glass to the rear spoiler for cars so equipped.
