Speaker suggestions

My buddy gave me his Pioneer head unit (DEH-P5000UB) and amp (GM-6500F) Amp puts out 60 Watts per channel if I use it as a four way or 180 if I use it as a two way. Any stock size front and rear or just rear speaker suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Speaker suggestions

I currently have 6 x9s Infinity in sail panels & they rock great. I have 4 x6 sClarion in dash they are weakazz. I will be adding kick panels soon w/ pioneer or infinity depending on what I can get to fit. Good luck, just installed sound deadener & it makes huge difference overall

Re: Speaker suggestions

I added Infinity speakers at the dash and in the sail panels to my exisiting Bose system. They are much clearer and better sounding than the Bose. then again, the Bose speakers are over 25 years old.

Also agree 100% on Polk. MB Quart is another good one that Im currently using. Infinity is a bit over-priced in my opinion, but still sound great.

Re: Speaker suggestions

Overhype is something that pretty much everyone does. Best thing to do is to actually go to a shop and listen to different brands of speakers as we all have different tastes and needs.

Re: Speaker suggestions

Jl audio hands down. Yes the cost a little more but well worth the money. I will be using 6 1/2 c2 setup in the door panels and either another set in the rear or the c2 6x9s there. This will company 2 jlw3s in the hatch. I have this same setup in my blazer for the past 2 years and its crisp and clean. People can't believe the sound that comes from them. They are also powered by jl amps.

Re: Speaker suggestions

thats what i mean by a number of brands, so i agree go listen to them see what sounds best with the music you listen to. shops dont normally have the best prices though. one of the online places are normally way better to buy stuff from.

Re: Speaker suggestions

I build custom stereo here for a soon to be release product and have used JBL, Pioneer, Alpine, Rockford,Kicker, Hertz audio in 3",4"6" size ranges all medium to hi end models.
I have used alpine amps for price/value,perf but recently switched to tripath class T amps for cost (not for car applications) BUT I have used a tripath to amp my center channel in my infiniti dirt cheap clean and small.

For speakers hands down my best value to perf. are the Hertz. They really hit with small space but the highs are the best I have heard. They are 4 ohm but really around 3.1 ohm and are very efficient at 93dbl.

Similiar in price to JBL but usually cheaper if you shop. I like them better get compliments on th fidelity.

I think the pioneers are great cheap speakers with above average sound, always bright with good punch. I like them better then the kickers usally unless I want more bass or volume. The kickers are durable and can be beat up and usually have loud bass low distortion but are muddy on highs.

Rockfords are good all around too but Hertz are just better.

I did try the vifa tweeters too, supposedly the best. I got mid ranges ones and my hertz were way better IMHO

i ran Vifa mids in my T/A with Pioneer soft tweets in the dash. Sounded great powered by the Pioneer HU.

Currently have Hertz MLK165's ready to go into my IROC as soon as I save up for a decent amp.

Re: Speaker suggestions

Don't forget the tight fight on the left dash speaker too. I had to cut some of the foam from my dash pad due to the size of the magnet on the speaker.

How was the sound stage with the BOSE setup? Have you ever been able to compare it with a car that wasn't equipped with it?

Re: Speaker suggestions

The Bose system was good. Four speakers were way too little for me. The hook up was very straight forward. Front left dash speaker hooked up to the left Bose kick panel speaker and pretty much the same for the rest of them.

I have been in Iroc's with the premium sound with the equalizer radios. There was some difference. Bose was a bit more clear.
