hows about alpine head unit and all polk speakers?

i cant decide between a kenwood excelon or the alpine right below the 60x4 one. i was planning on spending around $300 for the cd player. next what about polk 4x6s in front and either 6x9s or make 6 1/2s fit for rear?

theres a sale on polk 10" ex subs
the box says: 400w max
20-? hz
91 dbl
i see the ones in crutchfield are polk Dx's whats the diff between dx and ex?

The old Alpine stuff was awesome. The same cannot be said about their new decks. I really like the Excelon decks. Nice features, good specs, look nice and not too expensive. When i get a new deck, I'm planning to get an Excelon.

If its 400 max, then a good approximation would be 200 watts RMS.

Im with Justin on that, ive had some of the older Apline equipement, and right up to last year, i felt they were untouchable. But this year, they were too overcome by the flashy looks and gimmicks, which i dislike. Kenwoods lineup has a great product line this year, and i also, am turning to the kenwood line for a new deck. Pioneers still have the great performance ive known from them over the year, but again... i dislike their need for flash gimmicks and chromy type *****. Heck, if i wanted a screen saver, id get another computer!

I love kenwoods new stuff though, powerful, hi quality, and they look decent too. Im lookin in to the 905 myself. Just my opinion though, hope i trad lightly on anyone elses, we all feel differently. : )

I agree with their opinion on Alpine. I liked their older stuff VERY much. I had an Alpine for two years, up until a year and a half ago, and liked it very much.

While I don't currently own any new Alpine, I still like it a lot. As for speakers, I had a pair of Polk EX 4x6s for about 2 weeks. For the money, look at Boston Acoustics 4x6s and 6x9s. You'll pay a little more, but the end result is VERY nice.

I also agree on the Alpine's. I love their stuff, but they could drop the flashiness. I would buy a new head unit now, if it weren't for the crappy looks.

My personal opinion on speakers is Kicker all the way. I'm not so thrilled with their amps right now though (I've had 3 fail on me in 2 weeks!)

Polk, and Boston make some excellent speakers. MB Quart's are nice, too.

Starting to look like the Kicker poster child!

Whats the problem there? Kenwoods are great, although its been my experinece that stores that carry general electronics never carry anthing very far up the product line.... I would go for magazine or e-commerce order, thats how i do my buying. But if your restricted to Cir. city, i would go with the kenwood... BUT, if the kenwoods they have are limited, the Pioneers are still great quality, im just not in to their new look.

excelon 715s head unit
4x6 4675
6x9 6906s
and 2 10" 2503 (500w -200rms) subs
and probably get this kenwood amp that says 600w on it, and specs said 150x2

i think i can use the crappy 4ch 600w BOSS amp i have now for the speakers

I have an older Alpine CDA-7832 with a CHA-1204 12 CD Changer. I love the older Alpines, I am not into all that flash that the new head units have like Pioneer, Kenwood, etc....
I have Polk Audio 4x6 and 6x9's in my car, sounds great.
My brother now has an Alpine head unit. He traded his Premier DEH-PR1 and Fosgate 160.4 for the Alpine and a Fosgate 1000a mono block amp.
My brother has Polks in his car, 6.5 all around.
