which bass mechanik CD should I get?

i would like to get one because I don't think my system is hitting hard enough. there are like 5 out there. I am looking for one that would supply good bass, test my system and most importantly NOT WRECK ANYTHING. I have to 12" perfects and I do not want to blow them. I am also worried about my 6x9s. Is there any danger playing those songs? I was thinking about getting v 5.0. it has a mix of songs and test tones or should I get sonic overload. it is a two CD set. they both cost the same at CDNOW.

As long as your systems is set up right, there is no danger. If your setting up your system, you prolly wont be playing at max volume anyways, but if you decide to crank it (guilty here ), these are some things you want to watch out for:[*]xover settings-You dont want really low bass reaching your 6x9s or 4x6s. If you hear distortion, turn it down!![*]amp gain setting-You dont want any distortion at high volume. Likewise, you dont want to be clipping at high volumes. If you do, your asking for problems.[*]your voltage-Sit for too long, your battery will be dead.[*]your ears-Dont crank up the sine sweep and sit by a tweeter unless you want your ears ringing for a week

BTW, I have the Quad Maximus CD.

Those bass CD's can be bad news! I was demoing my car for a buddy last night with one, and my amp died in the process! It's only a couple weeks old, and they're gonna replace it (for the second time).

I think this time I'll have them install the amp, and check all the wiring, etc.... I'm sure it is all fine, but it can't hurt to be sure!

Seems pretty good. Last half of the disc is stuff like sine sweeps, pink noise and test frequencies. Its a rather old disc now. The tracks on it is mostly just bass. If you want to test your mids and highs, get the Blues Brothers soundtrack. If you have really good speakers, the horns in the songs sound so killer

I had a similar result one time. Had it cranked, and then poof!, no bass. Turns out what blew was just a 50 amp fuse.

Bass Mekanik v5.0. A buddy of mine actually worked on the truck on the cover of the cd. It has a couple great tracks to test your system plus test tones(tracks 20-99) e.g. track 20 = 20hz.
