My New Kickpods (Tutorial)

I've been wanting new kickpods for a long time, the ones I had were made by car-toys and they didn't do all that great of a job. Didn't recess the speakers, did a crappy vinyl rap on them etc. Plus, since they were only 5 1/4's I didn't get much mid bass out of them.

Did a lot of research online, and decided to give it a go, and build my own.
For speakers I went with the Hybrid Unity's 6.5's

Overall, it wasn't that tough to do. A little trial and error on getting the speakers aimed, and then some sanding to get it all smooth but I think anyone could do this if they have some patients and don't rush.

Here are some photos!

For any other 3rd Gens that want to give it a try, here is a tutorial I written on how I did mine.

I also have a tutorial on how to build the Speaker Rings too.

Glad you find this useful!
I was happy with how these turned out, so thought I would write something up so everyone can do the same.

Wow, those actually look good, they flow nicely into the floor unlike any other kickpods that basically slap the speaker on the side of the panel

good job!

They might, but you could go with either a shallow mount type speaker (I believe Rainbow or Focal make some), or maybe a 5 1/4 so they won't stick out as much.

Re: My New Kickpods (Tutorial)

It looks professional. Good Job!

I think it would be close to the clutch pedal but I don't think it would interfere. I'm basing this entirely off of pictures though so I don't actually know.

Here is a pic of a standard/clutch set up: The kickpod only covers the foot rest area so it looks like it would be ok.

Yes it only covers the foot rest, the clutch peddle would not actually make contact with it I don't believe.

Re: My New Kickpods (Tutorial)

Thanks, hope the tutorial helps others out too.
It's really not all that hard to do, a little time consuming but worth it.
