Re: Is this legit?

I have a radio date stamped 1986 and it lights up green, it's one of the delco radios with am/fm, tape, and equalizer.

I've never seen yellow, I know some 4th gens had yellow displays.

Re: Is this legit?

I seem to remember early Cavaliers having yellow displays. Not saying that's where the radio is from, just saying I remember seeing them.

That unit also looks really clean though, if it's been refurb'd at any point they may have just not put the right color lcd in it.

Re: Is this legit?

Do you feel that the radio comforts your very soul? If so then it MAY be a cavalier radio....

Ha! That's a great video. Shows a green radio display though. I was thinking earlier than that..the first couple of years, when you could get a type 10...

The car is inbound from Michigan to me in Raleigh NC... Once it gets here I'll pull it out and check the date and part number. I did buy the one you mentioned. Ebay, with the aux jack mod. :-)

Re: Is this legit?

I want to say my 84 SC had an amber display but that was 20 years ago.

Re: Is this legit?

in 1985,display type and color depended on the radio model-AFAIK,up through 84 f-body were all yellow LED except rare pontiac red LED units. Some 1985 up radios came with blue VFD display with lower-end models using the yellow LED through~1986. The 1993 camaro radio is blue VFD with a red filter to appear yellow.

You just have to love 80's marketing lol! I feel the need to go watch the A-team, Airwolf, the Smurfs, or something else along those lines now...
