Simple question: do we have enough space for a 2DIN device ???

No but you can buy a faceplace that looks like the original but has a 2 DIN hole.That or you can cut it if you don't want to keep your original part.

Fast question, about a typical pioneer 2 din unit: can one assume that the Firebird has enough deep space (inside) to contains the whole unit?

Yes it will fit.Saw a dude who installed a http://e3io.com/2din-car-pc-small-edition and it fit.Theres room till you hit the firewall/upper dash.

oh and that unit looks really good.Love the clean look on it.

nothing beats playing solitaire while driving.Best part about it is if you get that tuner software you can find ECU errors from your onboard computer and this time computer is literally no laptop or other primitive tools

howerver, with a simpler piooner unit, you can control the phone by the pioneer. Since there exist apps that connect with a OBD2 receiver, you can then see the OBD2 data on the pioneer display. Another cool thing
