Where to put a CD Changer

Hi All

I'm thinking about getting a CD Changer and would like to know of possible locations to put it. I don't want to put it in the boot as then everyone will be able to see it.

Cheers

Geoff

If you have the time and some good customizing skills, you could unfasten the vinyl pocket on the right-hand dashboard, cut out a hole for the CD changer and mount it there, then reattach the pocket with Velcro for a custom look. This would require slightly moving the engine computer, and re-routing the ducting for the far-right air conditioner outlet.

Not sure what you mean by "boot" but I have my 6-pack mounted in the trunk on the "ledge" on the passenger side of the hatch. If you don't have a hatch cover like I do then you can buy a cloth cover at an auto parts store that will help you conceal it.

I have mine under the drivers seat, not fastened down yet, but it's working great. It's an older Alpine, and I haven't heard it skip once, and I drive on some pretty rough roads.

The in-dsah idea is awesome. I have a friend that did this several years ago, and it turned out really nice. Personally, I prefer to have the changer where I can get to it to change magazines easily.

I had mine in the lockable compartment at the rear of the car. The fit was difficult for a 10 disc changer but it did fit. The nice thing about that install was it could be locked up. The only bad thing is you can't get to it while driving, but that really doesn't matter for most people.

I have my 6 disc mounted on the panel where the spare is in my 87 Z, it works great there, but the thing is, if you have bass like me , when it hits my bass has accually made the cd skip, but i do like the idea of removing the velcro glove box and putting it there, thats prett kool.

How big is your 10 disc changer? I got my Alpine 12 Disc Changer in my locking compartment with no probs. It's not bolted in, I have a towel wrapped around the bottom and sides and the unit is mounted facing up.
I have an in dash Alpine CD player so that I don't have to fiddle with changing CD's in the changer. I leave my favorites in the changer and use the indash for the "current Pop/alternative" mixes I make.

Thanks all.

The compartment in the rear that is keylocked is probably the best place to put it. I'm planning on getting a kenwood 10 disc changer, so I hope it fits, otherwise I'll have to get the 6 disc one :-(
