audiobahn amp
audiobahn amp
OK I have an audiobahn amp a2400 I can't turn the amp up past 1/4 without it shutting itself down. I have a factory stereo but have the wires connected to an RCA cable adapter and have RCA cables run to the amp. The amp dosen't accept high-input could this be my problem when I took the amp back to the shop it worked fine for them inside. Any help would be appreciated.
If your running them at 2ohms,is your amp 2ohm stable?
do you have them bridged?
is it pretty well ventilated?
try lowering the gain on the amp?
What are you running with this amp and how many? 12"s? 15"s?
give us some more info... just becuase the amp is running off the 'inline converter' doesnt mean it should be cuttin out like that.
Check to see if any of the speaker wires that you used for the 'inline converter' are touching at any of the ends you spliced together. My amp use to cut out all the time and i didnt know why, turns out the goldplated ends of the 'inline converter' were touching putting too much stress on the amp. that'll do it!
Let us know..

The amp is 2 ohm stable it has a cooling fan and not getting hot. I'm running 3 12" pioneers. but the sub dosen't matter i've hooked up different subs and get the same thing no matter what way I run the wiring I get the same thing. Right now i'm not sure of the ohm load but the 2 outside subs are ran postive and negative to positive and negative of the amp off seperate channels the middle sub is ran positive off one and negative off the other.

2 ohm stable in stereo or 2 ohm stable in mono? That makes a big difference. When you bridge an amp, each internal channel sees half of the impedance, so an amp that is stable to 2 ohms in stereo will only be 4 ohm stable when bridged.

Your description of how you wired the 3 subs confused me, but if I'm picturing it right, you've got 2 of them wired in series, then the third wired in parallel with the other two. That results in a 2.67 ohm load (assuming they are 4 ohm drivers), which is too much for most amps to handle. It also distributes uneven power to the speakers, but that's another issue entirely. You said that it did it when it was hooked up in normal stereo as well. I'm assuming that was with 1 sub per channel? If so, and it still did it, we need to look elsewhere. Some amps will shut down if the input voltage falls too low, which can happen if you are using power and ground wire that's too small. What gauge wire are you using? Where's it grounded? When it shuts off, is the amp hot to the touch? Maybe with a little more information we'll be able to get you through this.

I already said it never gets hot. I'm running 8 guage wire and it's grounded to the chassis. Someone told me it could be the factory stereo because it gives an uneven voltage from like 2.8 to like .2 could this be my problem or should I look elsewhere.
