what amps can handle 2 ohms bridged?

hey everybody........its stupid a$$ me again. I'm looking at getting a new amp and another sub for my car. what I was wondering is. what amps can handle 2 ohms bridged. I know most of the MONO amps can, but none of the 2 channel amps say taht they can. has anybody ever bridge one that they say you can't? I want to run about 250wx2 to 2 12'' infinity reference subs. thanks for your help

while they may not state it, many of the better brand amps can handle a 2ohm bridged load. i've got a 3 year old mtx blue thunder pro bridged at 2 ohms and it has yet to even get hot. kicker, mtx, rockford, etc. plus just about any class-d amp will be able to take that. i've heard for the money, the new jbl class-d mono blocks are hard to beat. check those out

Yeah I have to agree with CAMp3RO on the bridged issue and and on the JBL amps. I heard the 1200.1 I think it was powering 4-12" L7's and it done ok but on the perfects OMG! It would beat them to death! If I remember right Ikesound has the JBL 1200.1 for like $270.

Check Memphis. Thier Studio mono amps can go 1 ohm and two channel can go 2 ohm. Not to mention they are probubly one of the best amps on the market in every other catagory....

My friend has a Sony Xplod amp that another friend (who KNOWS what he's doing ) bridged into a 2 ohm load. There went the fuse. Kept popping fuses left and right.

But the amp handled it. Even after I told him it would probably do that, he figured he'd try it anyway. Then he was gonna put a 50 amp fuse in where the 30 amp fuse was. And this is the fuse that plugs INTO the amp, not the one by the batt.

I told him NO. Sony puts that amp on the for a reason. If he put a stronger fuse in there, eventually it would start blowing circuits in that amp.

I kept blowing fuses in the power wire on my RF amp with it bridged to a 4 ohm load (two 8ohm subs). That was with a 30 amp fuse in the dist. block. So I put a pickup lead on it to test the amp draw. With the volume up 3/4, it was drawing as much as 50 AMPS!!! And it's only a Punch 100!!!!!

I can't imagine how much it'd pull if it was bridged into a 2 ohm load!!!!!

I guess my point is that you shouldn't expect the amp to live a happy life, or a long one. Or your alt. That rectifier is gonna be workin' overtime.

It sounded like he was saying that it works.

Anyway, if you do decide to drop resistance below the the amp's recommended rating, just remember that you'll be pushing the amp harder than it was made to be pushed. This doesn't mean it won't work, it just means that you'll have to be more attentive to how it responds to the increased level of output.

memphis studio amps are awesome amps, but quite a bit on the expensive side. i think he was looking for somethin a little more in a lower budget. if not, i could list a whole bunch of 1 ohm stable amps. it basically comes down to a money issue. but for bang for buck, the jbl will do it. or even try the Lanzar Vibe class-d amps. much of their other products are on the lower quality side, but i've heard nothin but good reviews on their class-d vibe's
