Why no sound out of stock delco?

When I turn on the car I hear a static noise in the speakers then nothing. Any idea how to fix? I really want to keep the original stock unit because I have the gta with steering wheel controls. I did buy a Cassette tape to test it but it won't be here for a couple of days.

Re: Why no sound out of stock delco?

Seems like FM output ( FM reception ) is a common problem with this type of radio. I've heard it described on web forums numerous times and I've got a few of these radios with a similar "static from the radio" problem. The issue is due to a component failure in the top (receiver) part of the radio; so if your cassette player works you should get sound from the head unit when a cassette is inserted. I also find that most of the cassette mechanisms in this type of radio - the ones that I've gotten anyway - do not work properly. Other common cassette player problems are 1) Only PLAY and EJECT work properly, & 2) No functions work at all and no EJECT.

I believe that M&R radio is still able to repair this ' no reception' condition.

Yeah I figured it might be failure in the unit since it is static for a new seconds and then nothing.

Anyone know of a way to keep functiofun the steering wheel controls with an aftermarket head unit?
