questions for all intelligent car audio persons

I was wondering which setup you like more.

Right now I have 2 10" Kenwood Excelons with a power acoustic 2X165 RMS amp. I build a custom box that fits in the well just for these.

I could get 1 15" Rockford HE2 Sub and run the same amp 540X1. I could build a box for a 15 and put it in the well if needed.

I know the amp is a no name, but it is very powerful and very functional.

Also, do you think 6X9's are important when building an excellent system. If so, what brand and type of 6X9's do you like.

Right Now I have a custom 6X9 Box that I built that sits right behind the seats. It has 2 JBL GTO 930s in it. Do you think that is a sufficient 6X9?

Sorry about the long post. Also, Thanks

id stick with the dual 10"s. Alot will agree that the 15" will hit harder, but will sound alot sloppier cuz they're so big.

as for the 6x9's, I like Infiniti's. Other good companys are Boston Acoustics, Eclipse.

I would put them in the stock locations, and have the Head Unit power them. But for the fron 4x6's.. i would buy an amp to power them.

I'll agree that the 10's will sound much "tighter" but the 15 will sound deeper. Depends on what you want and the kinda music you like. As far as 6X9s, whatever you like the sound of. Depending on your head unit, I'd just have that power the 4X6s and 6X9s. Mine's 45X4 and its PLENTY loud. Hope I'm some help!

The JBL is a pretty decent 6x9 and if that is what you have, I say enjoy it. It is all about preference though, and none of the above named 6x9's are gonna win any competitions. Go with what you like to hear. As for the 15, it provides nice low, loud bass, but isn't as tight as the 10's. If you want the best of both worlds, move your 6x9's to the sail panels, put your tens right behind your back seats and put the 15 in the well. Might be overkill, but I think that your amp would drive it just fine. You would have one channel pushing 2 ohms and the other 4 ohms, assuming that all the subs you are looking at are 4 ohm subs.

First I think the the biggest mistake you can make is trade in the excellon quality for RF quality. RF has gone way done hill and I know for a fact that the excellons rock. We had both in a show car with a rf 1000a2 and the rf was twice the price and it was power series...It blew 3 times in 1 year. It is nasty stuff now...I still run a bit of it though. The other thing is the 6X9 are an aquired taste. I hate them but some people love them. I built kick panels thta sound great and move the stage forward. I used a 6" and a tweet and my dash speakers and put the power to them. Sound quality is second to none and it hits nice but not nasty!!! You have to decide how you like the sound. I like even and balanced while others love to hear only boom. You can get some really nice 6X9 that sound really clear though

Your 2 tens will probably be louder than the RF 15 with that amp he2's require tons of power. your 6x9 are good enough as long as they aren't stock. If you want new ones i like my eclipse point source.(a little pricy $350) but they are components more or less but in a 6x9 shape. i like the stock mounting area.

Personally I think 15's sound better outside the car than inside the car. I'd go with the 10's they'll sound better and won't find your loose bolts as easy.

Infinity 6x9's are a good brand!!!!!!!!!!!!

i disagree with the reply "put the tens behind the seat with the 15 in the well"

you should never really mix and match subs sizes, nor get two different brands. All the technical terms were posted a month ago, check it out.

p.s.- Infiniti 6x9's rock / stay with the 10"s
