The only thing I can think of is the paper that's on the back of those vents.
If you take them out and look at the back of them, you can see the paper. At first it looks like one sheet, but it has little flaps that sit behind every slot.
I just tore mine out. Although mine were doing it because of the 6x9s. If your's are vibrating because of the sub(s) then you may have to put some kinda gasket or clear silicone around the outside edge to keep it from vibrating.
Actually black RTV sealer would work great. Just make sure it cures before you pound that bass.

I had the same rattle from the bass from my 6x9's believe it or not. I just took a small screwdriver and put it between each slot, then pulled the bottom of the little rubber flappie thing over the inside of the slot. That way, their still there, but not flapping. It worked great, but a couple of days later I filled half the cavity with expanding foam anyway.

I tapped in the inside of those flapper things down so they wouldn't rattle. GM put the stupid thing in there for some reason so I didn't want to rip it out. Mine has been tapped down for the six years I have owned the car.

are these air vents really that important? i gather their for the wind coming through the door. why not just get them filled?

hey at least your 6x9's dont rattle everything in the doors when turned up really loud. lucky me, they rattle everything even my doorhandles.

According to the service manual the vents are a part of the air circulation system. The air from your dash vents goes back to the hatch area, then through the side vents in the trim on either side and then out the door vents (in theory). I've noticed since I filled that space with expanding foam sometimes I get an annoying whistle when my window's slightly open and the dash vents are going.

Now I just have to keep the entire collection of the rear plastic peices from rattling. Any suggestions?... I was gonna try RTV, but thats a $hitload of RTV to go through. I also thought of Liquid nails.(I do not plan on taking the damn things out anytime this century...)

Which plastic pieces are you talking about? What if you have to remove it for some reason? That wouldn't be a good idea. But if you are wanting to go that route I would use clear silicone. Other than that I would use sound deadener or double sided sticky weatherstriping that's like 1/2" x 1/4" all depending on where your talking about.

I am tlaking about all the plastic that surrounds the rear hatch. The side panels, the rear panels everything. I will go by lowes today and check out that 2 sided foam glue stuff thanks.Originally posted by jobryan26
