dash speakers
what are some good dash speakers that will just drop right in with no mods or anything?

Any 4x6 plate speaker will work without mods. I have Eclipse point source. Very good speaker for your dash. They are actually components so they are pricy $250/pair. Eclipse also makes a good 4x6 plate that is not a component and is less expensive. One tip: I hated my Clarion Pro audios they sucked.

I put MBQuart dkd146 4*6 in the dash without any mods at all and they are the clearest speakers I've ever heard. they don't come with the mounting plates though, be sure and ask for them or use the the old ones if you already have aftermarket speakers...
btw... infinity kappas 462.1cf series won't fit because of depth issues, but they would be my second choice if they did...

Not all will fit. A lot of 4x6s have a tweeter that sticks up too high and requires you to grind away a little on the backside of the stock grills. In firebirds and 91-2 camaros, you may also run into fitment problems with speakers that have large magnets. Pre 91 camaros have a lot more room. In pre 91 camaros you can even fit 4x6" plate speakers with no modifications, although in firebirds there will be some fairly major modification necessary to get them to fit the driver's side.

I had/have the Infinity Kappa 4x6 plates. they fit fine with no mods at all. infinity was also nice enough to include "bass blockers" so you dont blow out the speakers
