CD Changer in center console?

When I install a new stereo in my car, I want a MiniDisc head unit but I also want to be able to play CDs in my car. What are my options? I was thinking about getting a Kenwood CD head unit and then their add on MD unit underneath it, but thats Double DIN and I wouldn't be able to install it. Or I was thinking about getting a Sony or Kenwood MD head unit with a Sony or Kenwood CD changer in the center console. I don't think its big enough to fit a CD changer in it though. Has anyone done it before? How did you do it and do you have any pics? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Edit: spelling.

Yeah but I want it in front so I can change CDs without getting out of the car.

That's what the in-dash cd player is for.

But I also want MiniDisc cause most of my music is on MD but my friends have CDs and I have some CDs too. I think I'll just get a MD head unit and no CD player

i currently have my CD Changer in the rear glove box. Im also looking to mount it somewhere up front.

I was thinking of flush mounting that SOB in the dash panel under the A/C vents??

would this work?

whats behind the panel anyway?

When I got my first changer I was looking for a way to put it in the center console as well, then came to my senses...LOL You can't even cut out the bottom of the console and make enough room for most changers. Some minidisc changers may fit, but the only way I can think that a regular disc changer would fit would be if you were to cut out the console lid and flush-mount it in the console up through the lid. Then it wouldn't be hidden though which I assume is what you're after in the first place; or at least no more hidden than it would be flush mounted in the passenger side dash. Any thoughts on the feasibility of a flush mount console/changer? I'm sure other folks have pondered the idea. My two cents anyway... Take care now...

One idea is to put it in the center cosole, but make a new lid to it that is bigger to allow for the height of the changer. Esp, in the camaro, cause I think the camaro's center console has a little more room than a firebirds. I think most 6 disc changers would fit, but would need an extra 2 inches of height.

CD changers will not look good mounted under the vents or recessed anywhere in the dash. They are too big and there is too much stuff to remove or relocate if you start carving into the dash. I once thought about mounting it under the dashpad in front of the "wall" area on the passenger side, but then its exposed for every potential thief to see. Then you have to figure out how to run the wires without making a mess.

After much thought I decided on putting the CD-changer in the trunk, out of sight. I really can't see why you would want to change CD's so often it would become tiresome. I have a 6-pack changer which could play for HOURS before I wanted to change discs....imagine how long you could go with a 10 or 12 pack changer?

Maybe you should consider getting an in-dash CD-palyer with the mini disc add-on, and instead of buying any type of changer just buy yourself a CD-RECORDER and burn your own custom CD's to your liking. Just my .02

One more thing. The space directly underneath the center vents makes a nice spot to mount a full DIN component. Its where I mount my graphic EQ. And you could completely hide the wires with minimal drilling of the dash wall.
