Help with alternator

Who can tell me what alternators are compatable with 87 Camaro Z28. I need to get at least a 120 amp for my system. Will any pickup alternators work? Help.

What size system do you have? If you have a V-8 and are running a decent size stereo, you will probably want more than 120 amps.

In my opinion, you are almost better off to have yours rebuilt to your personal specs cause it is often times cheaper. I found a place here in Columbus (OH) that will rebuild alternators for $1 an amp. They do very good work also. A friend of mine had an alternator rebuilt by this company about 3 years ago and it is still going as strong as ever. Also, usually you can get it rebuilt and they will install it and make sure everything is working all within two days.

As far as truck alternators go, all I can suggest is looking at various alternators and see if they have the same bolt system as yours.

Good luck

Matt
