WHICH SUBS DO I GET?!?!?

Hey, I finally have a job now so I can finally finish my system!!! I think I'm gonna go with some Clarion or some other 4x6's in the dash. I want either 5½'s.... 6½'s... or some different 6x9's in my rear panels... but I'm torn between all these different subs to get.... Are the Sony Xplod's any good?!? I want either 2 12" or 2 10" subs. Are they kenwood subs any good? What about MTX? I'm looking for subs that are under $130 a piece. I don't want no cheap subs but I want them to be good.

Out of the three you mentioned above, I like MTX the best. I've never liked any Sony XPlod product.

A lot of what makes a subwoofer sound good is the amp running it. I haven't heard Kenwood subs but I think they're about the same quality as Sony or MTX. A friend of mine has a Sony Xplod in a custom bandpass that sounds really good. Everyone couldn't believe he only had 1 12". That was with a nice class D amp in the neighborhood of 400 watts clean. If you tried to run the same sub in the same box with a Profile amp, it would probably sound pretty bad. My vote goes for either Sony or MTX and a good amp. Have you considered JL W0's?

I noticed by your signature that you are going with Polk speakers. Have a you also looked at their subwoofers, either the DX or MOMO lines? When you are looking at a subwoofer you have to ask yourself a number of questions such as: Are you after sound quality or SPL (loudness), how much RMS and peak power can you provide, how much space do you need, have you listened to any subwoofers, how much money do you want to spend ,etc.? I'm looking at a single Polk subwoofer as they provide exceptional SQ at the the expense of SPL but I'm not after LOUD. If you want loud then the MTX 6000s are good (IMHO). My suggestion: find a CD you like with extreme bass passages, take it with you to your favourite stereo shop and listen to a number of subwoofers. Only your ears can tell you what you like the best.

You can get those sony subs for way under $100 just about anywhere that carries Sony. I think Sears may have them for that price too.

let us not overlook the Kicker Competition line up. My opinion, they are the best bang for the buck (or one of them).

I have had my 12" lanzar's for about 4-5yrs never had a problem with them and they still sound as good when I bought them. JL-audio makes some nice subs as well.
