What size speakers are in the dash of an '83 TA and an '86 camaro SC??
I am in the middle of shopping for a system for my '83 TA. What size speakers should I buy for the dash? What size came stock? Same thing with my friends '86 SC( I would imagine the same size). Thanks.

It is really hard to make any speaker sound decent in the front dash of the third gens. I put in a set of Pioneer 6x4 component plates and they don't sound any better than the stock factory jobs ;(
Upgrading the sail panels with the best sounding 6x9s you can find is almost the best you can do, imho.

1986 Camaro Sports Coupe
T-tops, power hatch, third brake light
LG4 305 V8, "Damonized" Q-Jet 4bbl, K&N filter
Crane ignition kit, TH700R4 transmission and Derale cooler
Air conditioning, pw, pl, pb, ps, tilt wheel
Kenwood cassette, Pioneer 6x4 component front speakers
Rockford Fosgate 6x9 Punch rear speakers
Aluminum slots and Goodyear 225x60R15 Eagle HP tires

Thanks. I was thinking about either getting the pioneer 3 ways...for the 4X6's and the 6X9's)....but then I was looking at Infinity Speakers...which are supposed to be the best around. Let me know what you think.

Personally, I have never heard an Infinity speaker that I liked. They just sound dry as a popcorn fart to me, no life or air.
Thanks for your honest opinion, I think I would rather go with the pioneer 3 ways any way. My friend has them and they sound great...plus they are a hell of a lot cheaper than the infinity's. But I am still deciding on a deck and subs. For the subs I am looking at either MTX 6000's or Infinity's. I have heard Infinity subs, and they kick a$$. Any other opinions?
well a few may disagree (Jim) but you can get those speaker protectors(you know they go on the back to keep out the weather) and put fiberglass resin in them and let it soak in and you have just effectively made a "box" for that speaker. The resin will not bend and is rather stable and really strong. You can go to a home improvement store to get the resin just fiberglass resin will work and go to the car audio store for the "protectors". And if you do not like the way they sound you can take the protector out and your only out 8 bucks per pair(as per crutchfield's price).
In my can I have Boston Acustics 4x6 2 way up front powered by the head unit(SONY) and Alpine 6x9 3 ways in the sail powered by a jensen amp. I also have 2 12 Rocks in the hatch... Overall sound is great response in the music I play. basically everything but rap, opera, R&B and basically all "ethnic" music.(tring not to sound like an *** here but I just don't like it)
