Anyone with a pic a 15" sub mounted in the Fbody

Just wondering if someone could maybe post one to see what it looks like and how they have em positioned. Also is it possible to mount one right in the middle of the well area instead of off to a side.

Try looking on the website www.ryjocustoms.com. They might make a box for a single 15 and this might give you some ideas. I thought they had one with a single 15 in the middle. Just a thought. I ordered a box for 2 12's from them until I find the time to build my own.

I don't want to cramp your vibe but my frind had the 15 idea nad went with it and was extemely dissapointed by it. I would go with 2 12's if I were you. He got that and was much happier and it was much louder.

Well yer friend had one ****ty 15 or power supply to the 15... Because I have 1 15" Rockford Power DVC rated at 2000 max and 1000 rms backed up by a 1000 watt BD1000a1 with a cap and it slams harder than my previous 4 12's... The bass is also so much deeper in 15's... I couldnt go back to 12's now, when u have 12's yer missing part of the songs.... Take for example the song Hail Mary by Tupac or Im a thug by Trick Daddy... That is meant to be heart pounding LOW bass and with 12's its just not the same... Although 12's are great for an assortment of music.. Pretty much depends whut u like.. Also maybe yer buddy didnt have a correct enclosure for the sub... Alot of things could have affected the subs output, but mine is amazing and u can hear it from blocks.. It rattles my awning to **** when parked outfront of my house.... Its amazing... I have 3 more to put in it tho with 3 more bd1000a1's... Just waiting on the customized box... Lataz...

Dude if u want pure THUMPING breath taking house shaking bass, go with the Rockford Power series.... Their bass is so low and shakes everything... The only problem with these subs is that they need a good power supply.. U cant have this 2000 watt sub and try boosting it with a little 300 watt amp.... They need the full 1000 rms to thump.... Its big money unless u get it used from someone..... I paid close to 4000 for all my equipment.. Well, my insurance paid close to 4000 for all my equipment after my last system got ripped off...

ya i will have sic amp to power it but the main thing i am concerned about is the box. I am going to use MDF 3/4'' wood but does the box have to be made a certian way or have Air Pockets or just make it the way i want it to fit in my trunk?

The box depends on the sub.. It has to have the specified amount of air space... Also another thing to take into consideration is if u want it sealed or ported.. With those Rockfords, they are best ported... It doesnt really matter the way u design it as long as u have the desired air space... Use 3/4 mdf like u said and make sure everything is sealed tight except for the port (if u choose to port it).... Also u have to choose which way u want to aim the sub.... U can aim it up, down, front or back.... Most people have them aiming up so the sound travels off the rear glass... Either which way it will travel to the front, but different ways give u different sounds.... Mine is aimed forward right down in the rear well and it bangs like a ***** fugga!

how do i know how much air space i need. I am probably going to go with the RockFord one and am going to build the box to face up on the left side of the trunk.I will build it all the way from the little hump in the trunk to like 2'' below the glass for a little space.

U have to check out the specs on the sub, when u buy the sub it will come with a little manual that tells u everything about the sub... If yer choosing Rockford, u can go to their website and get the manuals for whichever sub u choose....

What kind of RCA's do you have? What gauge power wire? What brand?

Dude, them DVC's are gonna hammer hard dude...

I started a project, of 2 15' Rockford Fosgate DVC's, and 2 bd1000a1's, and 2000 RMS of pure Fosgate Power...

I also bought like 4 1.0 farad lightning caps, and all fosgate RCA's, here they are...

1. 1- 19 ft Rockford Fosgate Riot

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...9&I=575RIOT50M

2. 2 - 19 ft Rockford Fosgate Double X

http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/S...9&I=575RP43903

i have about 25 ft of unused Rockford Fosgate 4 Gauge Black Power Wire...

like 8 distribution blocks, all 1 0 gauge in, and 4 4 gauge out, which woulda been perfect for batteries, caps, and amps...

then i didnt get the box...

something fell through...

and i bought computer ****, and im going with speed now, and most of it i havnt even used...im gonna try to ebay it, and just keep a DVC and my Power 800.4, and just have one 15 for some bass...

The Box, i have no idea about, I was over at a friends house one day, and he said hed sell me a camaro box that holds 2 12's for $10...

He had an 87 Iroc, and was out doing burnouts and ****, and a truck plowed him...He said that hed never get to use it again, thats why i got it cheap...

But anyways, it was desinged for his 2 12' Earthquake HX's (i had 2 of those, and a pioner premier 9m-x922, i ran them in parellel mono to the amp, in my 89 Mercury Topaz, and they pounded the hell outta that car), so i took the box, and just ported it a little bigger to put 15's in it, and stuffed the hell out it, and put my 2 XLC's in, and slam slam slam...

It sounded pretty good, i always got a crowd cruising around town

But yea...

Later

1000 Watts Max(could be for like a split second), and 600 RMS, which means constant power...

my DVC's are 1000RMS/2000 Max...

max basically means ****, you always wanna look at the RMS value...

and if a company doesnt list their specs in RMS, you prolly dont wanna buy from them(jensen, blah, blah, blah...)

Dude, Rockford unrates their products.... Get the BD1000 or BD1500 and u have well over 1000 rms.... My BD1000a1 is rated at 1116 watts rms... My subs are also the 2000 max 1000 rms POWER series, 15'z.... They slam like no other....

Well all i've got is a Rockford Fosgate HE2 15" woofer. It can still rattle a house hooked up to a little amplifier. I don't really know what im going to power it off of though. I was thinking maybe i would just use the rear channel off my 400.4 as i puts out about 300W RMS@2ohm(massivly underated amplifier).

jl's are also under rated and are very good subs. My brother has 3 10" wo's in his camaro, with a rockford 360a2 and it POUNDS hard. His amp is rated at well over 360 watts.
