anyway of estimating db's?

I was just wondering if there is any way to get a rough estimate on db's? like going from 1 with 200w sub to 2 with 225w. if anybody oculd help me out that would be great. thanks!

is each sub getting 225w rms power or peak??
since they are JL 12s, and im assuming that you are runnin 225w rms to each, about 400w peak, i would say in our type of car anywhere from 130db to 145db, also tell me how much it hurts when the bass drops, is it hard to breathe, make your stomach turn lol
let me know

ya I know I just wanted a rough estimate, 225rms, 2 JLw3's coming from 175rms one infinity reference. what would the difference be? what do you think I was hitting before? will be hitting?

Can you post the specs on the speaker(s) that you want to estimate? (e.i. all the theile-smalle parameters on the sheet or box that comes with it) and I can give you a little better guess than some numbers with a 15db range.

"going from 1 with 200w sub to 2 with 225w"

It will be about 6dB louder.

Well actually... it'll be about 3dB louder. Doubling your cone area and keeping all other parameters equal will give a 3dB gain. Most people get a 6dB gain because when you add a second sub, it halves your impedance, which makes most amps double their power output. When you double your cone area and double your power, you get a 6dB gain.

I made the assumption (since power output changed from 200w to 225w) that 87transam5.7tpi meant 225w for each sub (ie. that he was using a different amp). (Hence, also doubling power as well as cone area.) This assumption could be wrong. In such case, Jim85IROC is correct.
