Good speakers for door...

I know I posted a question about door speakers before but I am looking now to find a particular model of speaker that works good as a door speaker for a third gen. Has anyone had good luck with a particular model or size of speaker? I don't want the speakers in the kick panels though, but a door speaker that the window crank will clear. Thanks.

I just installed a new system in my 92 RS, I was going to just get 4 X 6's for the front but instead opted for the 5 1/4 MTX component speakers which were mounted on the doors. The audio shop had to build a custom panel for them because they would not have fit. It is just a flat piece of wood probably 1 in thick (which they wrapped in carpet to match the cars interior)that is screwed to the door panels. I am glad that I opted for the component speakers, sound clarity is awesome. Hope this helps!

What did the shop charge to install those door speakers, and where was it done?

I want the speakers in the door because where I live (kinda rural) the floors and kick panel are really prone to dirt and mud getting in the car and all over the mats and kick panels...I just don't want to ruin the speakers when I put them in, not sure if it would hurt anything but the speaker covers would definitely get dents and mud all over them, I've never noticed mud or dirt on my door panels, so I think the speakers would be safer there.

Do you have power windows? I'm putting 6.5 midbasses in my doors. I had to build out pretty far because of the power window motor. I did a fiberglass pod that looks really nice but I might throw it away and try to build one that doesn't come out quite so far. Just keep in mind if you have power windows you are probably going to have to build out.

I just read your post saying that you have a window crank so never mind. Sorry I can't read.

Installation was free, and it was done here in So. Cal.
