Stereo, Amp & Speaker set up

Let me know what you guys think of this set up. I want to upgrade the sound system in my 92 RS but I want to mount the new speakers in the existing speaker mounts (front in the dash & rear in the sail panels). So here is what I came up with:

Alpine CDM-7871 in dash CD receiver (45W X 4)
Alpine MRP-F320 5-channel Amp (540W max)
2 Infinity 4 X 6 2-way (120W max front)
2 Infinity 6 X 9 3-way (300W max rear)

Let me know what you guys think.

Thx!

I have a setup similar to you

1) ALPINE head unir
2) ALPINE 4 channel amp ~60x4
3) Infinty Kappa 4x6s 60 RMS
4) Infinty Referance 6x9s 110RMS

Usally people go by RMS not peak b/c peak really means nothing, RMS the watts they can handle all the time, peak is only fo short bursts. Anyway, My system gets wayyyyyyyyyy loud and does not break up. The only thing it lacks is a sub woofer to help out some.

I finally bought my system over the weekend and here is what I got:

Alpine 7858 HU
DHD 400w 4 ch amp
MTX 5 1/4 component (front-door panels)
MTX 6 X 9 120w (rear-sail panels)

I am really glad that I opted for the components for the fronts.

You have front door panels? What happened to the 4x6's up front? Are you getting the 51/4's custom installed? Just curious. Anyway, good choice. You'll be much happier with a component set up front as opposed to 4x6's.

Nevermind, I'm an idiot. I just read your post on the good door speakers thread and it answered my question. Sorry. Anyway, why did you decide to go that route instead of kicks? How did it turn out?

You should put some picks up, I'm having a hard time visualizing the 1" piece of carpeted wood thing you're talking about.

I did not want to mount speakers in the kick panels due to the fact that I snow ski and hike a lot. I noticed that there is usually some snow or mud that rubs off on to the kick panels so I opted for the door panel. As for the carpeted wood, it is about 8 X 6 with a whole cut in the middle (for the magnet & cone to fit through, speaker is screwed to the wood, and the wood is just screwed to the door panels. The wood part is just to get the speaker mounted outward because it would not have fit without it due to the window. I really like the way they look, I'll take some pics soon so I can post them.
